KNIGHT’S TOUR GAME
A two player strategy game.
Equipment; A Chessboard, a number counters or markers (maximum of 64 but usually less), a chess knight, although any distinctive game piece can be used. Draw lots to decide first the player.
Game; The first player places a marker on any square and then puts the knight on the marker. The second player places another marker one knight’s move away from the first one and moves the knight to that square. Play then alternates, each person placing a marker on an unoccupied square, one knight’s move away from the last one occupied and moving the knight to that square. The knight is unable to move to a previously occupied square. The first person unable to move loses the game. Draws are impossible. In a perfect game the first player will lose but this is very rare. Markers are used only to indicate squares that have been visited previously. A knight’s move is from one square to the diagonally opposite coloured square in a three by two rectangle of squares. This game can be played on any sized checker/chess board. E.g. 10 X 8, 10 X 10 etc.
