Kool DJ Dee

Kool DJ Dee, or Kool DJ D,[1] is an African American DJ who is credited with having the “first Crossfade mixer[2][3]” in the Bronx, New York in the early 1970s and known as one of the “Pioneers of Hip Hop”. According to rap legend Kurtis Blow, he is known for having the “original first sound systems” in the Bronx.

The importance of Kool DJ Dee as a pioneer in Hip Hop with what is called the Crossfade Mixer is that he was skilled at fading songs in and out which is grossly important in DJing in the music genre. Kool DJ Dee was one of the hip hop pioneers with a deejaying business who influenced Afrika Bambaataa into becoming a deejay.[4]

Kool DJ Dee was a member of the Black Spades.
