Amar Kumar[1] (Bengali: আম্মার কুমার​; born 23 May 1999), better known by his stage name Koomz, is a British singer-songwriter, rapper and YouTuber. He is known for his single "Mariah" which has hit over 10 million streams and views across many platforms, he also gained popularity for his "bait out a sket" videos on YouTube. He was signed to Relentless Records (Sony Music UK).[2]

Early life[edit]

Kumar is of Bangladeshi and Indian descent and was born and raised into a Bengali Muslim family living in Brixton, London.[3][2]

Career[edit]

As a social media influencer, Koomz is known for creating his own phrases as well as promoting Multicultural London English such as "trimzino".[4] Another example is the word "peakly", after a controversial video he released on his social media after his car was attacked by two men. His house was also robbed at knifepoint and he released a public video in reference to the attack.[5] Grime was also an important part of his career before Afroswing.[6]
