Kousik Madhav is an Indian Film Director and Producer. Kousik has worked in different fields of filmmaking, such as directing, editing, D.I., C.G., music and sound departments, throughout his career.

Early life

Born on 19 May 1979 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, Kousik Madhav, a Hindu, was sent to Nirmala Convent, Coimbatore until his 2nd grade and then to Carmel Garden Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore. He often described having a lonely and sheltered childhood. From his childhood, he indulged in music and dance classes and he enjoyed them due to his interest in them.

He was nicknamed "Brainy" in those days because of his talent with computers, which led him to teach classes for students who were five to six years senior to him. During his school years, he was promoted to the leader of the musical band due to his well-itemized knowledge of all the musical instruments available in the school band. He is referred to as a multi-talented kid by his teachers as he was good at studies as well.

After his schooling, he was sent to Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts & Sciences, Coimbatore to do his Bachelor of Computer Science. He achieved many awards with his talent in extracurricular activities during his college days and was representing his college with other colleges in talent shows. He was one of the members who was selected to represent the whole district by the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore to participate in the Inter University Competitions held at Bangalore. After the successful completion of his three years, he opted to join the same university to do his higher studies in Master in Computer Applications as a correspondence graduate. While doing his correspondence, he did his Diploma in Audio Engineering at SAE Institute, Chennai and other courses regarding it. Later, he was doing music, direction and editing for advertisement films and short films. After the completion of his Diploma, Kousik joined his studies in Diploma in Film Making. At the end of his first year, he got a job in the film industry and couldn’t complete his graduation in Film Making because of his tight schedule and inability to attend classes, which made his career completely step into the Film Industry.

Career

Early Days (2002-2006)

He eased the struggling days of his career by entering into the film industry. As he was studying while starting his career, he faced difficulties only allocating time for work and not for doing things. Due to the hard work in the field, he sacrificed his Diploma in Film Making. He was into his own Music, Tele Film & Short Film Productions in his earlier days. He gave his hard work and dedication to the work he was doing, but his fate didn’t let him earn the amount of money he expected from it until a wave shifted his career towards the sound department.

Peak Period (2006-2012)

Thanks to the education he had in his early life. His talent was recognized by a well-known audiographer who put him into the sound department. At the start, he was not ready to sacrifice his goal towards direction, but his survival factor let him take the decision. Luck was also favoring his way once he entered the sound department. He showed his full concentration towards what he was doing and got good results and fame. He was into direction, editing, music and sound for a couple of people and with celeb film directors and big film banners of the period. Consecutive fame led him to destroy his goal forever, doing work for more than 50 films in this period. One day, he realized that he was going away from the goal he wanted to achieve. Even fame and money won’t make anyone proud until he achieves what he wanted. So, he quit what he was doing for others and started planning for himself.

Life for Himself (2012-present)

He took a break for a while, for around a year, to recollect and rethink. He started revising the scripts of others to get the groove he missed. His future thinking made him write a script “ARANG” in Hindi. He planned to direct the script, but the producers and production companies which he moved through set him lots of stipulations, selecting the cast and crew for the script, which he was not ready to sacrifice. He is very bold saying things to people's faces when it comes to his writings and told people that he cannot compromise on anything regarding his own script because only a creator knows what he wants and not the investors. He planned to move forward, so he started a company for himself “KOUSIK MEDIA ARCHITECT” and followed the financiers whom he knew for a decade. With all set to go with the financiers, he invested himself for the scripting and screenplay of the film “ARANG”. Hoping to get good names on board for the film…
