Kreatieve Energie is a Christian new religious movement founded in the 1970s by the Belgian philosopher Jan Gielens. Gielens claimed to be the successor of Christ and the prophet of a new age.
The philosophy of the movement consist of establishing a kingdom in the Mediterranean region. Gielens claimed to be working on the development of a new community. Together with his followers, he moved in 1978 to Elche, Spain, where they lived as a community. The rules were not written down, because Gielens claims to be opposed to any kind of structure. There were regular activities: meetings, work groups, meditation,…. The followers ate vegetarian food and had to wake up on precise times. The chairwoman of the movement, who is also a yoga teacher, was Gielens' wife.
During a 1998 report drafted by the Belgian parliamentary committee, the group was classified as a cult. In the report, the organization was charged with extortion, intimidation and failure to keep to a promise of providing education to children of the movement.
