Krister Axel (born May 14, 1974) is a French-born musician, poet and software engineer living in Ashland, Oregon.

Background[edit]

Krister Axel was born in Paris in 1974. He began his career as a songwriter performing in the streets of Paris, New York City, Madison, Wisconsin, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Ashland, Oregon. Krister has cited Chris Whitley as the greatest influence on his writing. His credits include pieces for the soundtracks to Hate Crime, A Colombia, and licensing with NBC, Regent Theaters, and many others. Krister had several songs featured on the season 5 DVD of Friday Night Lights.

Krister plays finger-style guitar and electric piano. He is also a co-founder of the band The River South. In February 2018, Krister launched CHILLFILTR, a roots-based music blog.
