Early life[edit]
Kristofer Kenichi Kamiyasu was born on 5 September 1975 in Märsta, Stockholm, Sweden. When he was around two years old, the family moved to Emmaboda, in south Sweden. During a job in between High School and his Military service, he made a reportage about a theatre group for the local magazine. During the interview in which he documented their premiere night, he ended up participating in some theatre improvisations, which made the director so impressed he gave Kristofer a role in their upcoming show on the spot. Two years later he applied to the national Academy of performing arts in Malmö, a four year long acting school, and he became one of the twelve student out of a thousand who got selected to the school for that year.
Career[edit]
Kamiyasu made his professional theatre debut right after his graduation from The Academy of Performing Arts in Malmö, 2001, in Helsingborgs City Theatre, in the play "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". Since then he has performed on some of the biggest scenes in Sweden and Scandinavia. His work on stage includes working with Eirik Stubo, as Hippolitos in ”Fedra” on the Swedish National Touring Theatre, Banquo in Fredrik Rydmans ”Macbeth”, ”Mowgli” in the Junglebook at Stockholm City Theatre, a show that still holds the record of being played for the longest period (between 2007-2014), in which Kristofer Kamiyasu played all shows. He has also worked with recently deceased director and playwright Lars Norén, in ”Kyla”/Cold[1], a play that also toured Europe.
In TV and Film Kamiyasu is best known for his role Sven Sundqvist in ”Box 21” (Viaplay), and as Simon Järvi in BECK.
In Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard[2] (post production) directed by Patrick Hughes, Kristofer plays the lethal tripple A hitman Zento, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, Ryan Reynolds, Antonio Banderas and Tom Hopper.
Personal life[edit]
Kamiyasu has a Japanese Father, and a Swedish mother. His Japanese ancestors are of Samurai heritage, and Kristofer has had a life long passion for Japanese martial arts, and has many years of practice in Karate, Ju- Jutsu, Aikido and Iaido. Kristofer has three children.
