Ksenia Milas, born Ksenia Milyavskaya (25 September 1989, in Saint Petersburg) is a russian violinist and currently living and working in Italy.

Early life and education[edit]

Ksenia started playing the violin at 4, in the Music School of Volgograd and in 1997 entered the “Rimsky-KorsakovSaint Petersburg Conservatory in the classes for talented students which Maestro Savely Shalman guided.

At the age of 8, she debuted as a soloist with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, performing in the Mirror Hall of Beloselsky-Belosersky Palace.

In 2009, at 20, she entered the Maastricht Conservatoire to study with Maestro Boris Belkin and graduated with honors in 2012.

Since she was a child, she has been attending masterclasses and advanced training with internationally renowned Maestros such as Salvatore Accardo, Eduard Grach, Sergei Kravchenko, Jan Repko, Zakhar Bron, Pavel Vernikov, Michaela Martin, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Oleksandr Semchuk.[1].

Career[edit]

Ksenia performs as a soloist with various orchestras and as a chamber music performer and gives solo recitals and concerts with chamber ensembles and orchestras mainly in Europe[2][3][4][5][6][7][8] and Russia[9].

In 2017 she recorded the Six Sonatas for Violin Solo Op.27[10][11][12] by Eugene Ysaÿe for Anima Records

In 2021 she released a CD of Niccolò Paganini’s 24 Capricci[13][14][15][16] [17]and four newly discovered and published Etudes by Prof. Danilo Prefumo, Quattro Studi per Violino solo, which has not been performed by any violinist to date. The CD was recorded in one session with Paganini’s “Sivori” violin in the famous Violin Room in Palazzo Doria-Tursi, Genoa.

In March 2023, she released the album Oskolki with Gianna Fratta for Sony Music.

Educator[edit]

Besides her concert schedule, she is a violin professor at the Imola International Academy, where she was invited, by its Honorary Director, Vladimir Ashkenazi, in 2010. She also teaches at the Scuola di Musica Fiesole.

Ksenia has joined the Master Teachers at the online learning platform iClassical Academy[18]. She also teaches as a violin professor at the Conservatory of Matera[19]

She plays on a August Sebastien Philippe Bernardel père violin from 1840 and a bow Marte by Giovanni Lucchi.

Personal life[edit]

Ksenia Milas is married to Ukrainian violinist and teacher Oleksandr Semchuk[20][21][22][23]. They both live near Bologna.
