History
Kubernets Inc was founded in 2011 by Emmanuel Christian[3] as an IT consulting company. Later, in 2013, the company, which was working as a Software Engineer, started as an IT service, repair and maintenance company, and later became a software development service company.
In 2016 it started organizing mission-focused hackathons focused on solving community challenges in partnership with indigitous kampala[4]
In February 2017, Kubernets Inc started mentorship workshops at Monaco institute in Uganda, collaborated with Wanran Inc internship programs where its CEO trained interns in Cyber Security[5], later that year it collaborated with MLH to organize local hack day events to support student hackers. On 20-22 October it sponsored a Christian hackathon called #Hack for Missions Kampala organized by indigitous hub Kampala community, not only sponsoring it but also providing mentors.
In September 2019 it officially launched its office in Florida, United States of America. Kubernets Inc[6] also announced that Florida would be the Head offices for global operations.
In August 2019, The company organised the first-ever four weeks programming Bootcamp called Bunia Technology Bootcamp[7] in Bunia in partnership with Université Shalom de Bunia. Kubernets Inc trained participants in UI / UX Design, Web Development, Mobile application and cloud technologies like google cloud platform. Since DRC is a French-speaking country that has experienced war for quite some time, the company facilitators had some language barriers but later they were assisted by university lecturers who helped to translate. Kubernets Inc CEO- Emmanuel Christian told the participants that every year they would be organising these bootcamps. Later that year in November the company CEO was visiting a university in another part of DRC named Beni in North Kivu province as a visiting professor where he decided students participate in using Twilio to send SMS, building slack bots among others every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. He didn't complete the training because there were riots due to killings that were happening around. He was able to travel to the nearby country Uganda and decided to continue the training remotely since the schools were closed and later sent them certificates of participation.
In December 2019, The company organised one-day hackathon called Kubernets Edu[8] Hack Day- Build 2019 in Uganda in collaboration with MLH, attended by students and professionals in Uganda, some attending remotely from Bunia- Ituri and Beni- North Kivu in DRC. The hackathon was a day-long global event that brought participants together to share ideas and build new projects, working together with others. Participants engaged in workshops and talks with a community around the world. Over the course of 12 hours, attendees used hardware and software to build everything from websites to robots to mobile apps and more.
In April 2020, The company hosted another one day-long virtual Hackathon called Local Hack Day: Share (2020) due to the Covid19 pandemic,[9] this event was attended by all skill levels from beginner to the most veteran developers where they came together online to put the finishing touches on their projects and develop strong communication skills by participating in a demo day. Over the course of 12 hours, attendees spent time writing and speaking about the things they learned and built during the last year. At the end of the event, they added their projects to their portfolios to share with the world.
