Early Life and Career[edit]

Kunle (Olakunle) Ade-ojo hails from Ilara-mokin in Ondo state, southwest Nigeria. He is the son of the famous Nigerian industrialist and founder of Toyota Nigeria Limited, Chief Micheal Ade-ojo.[1]

He majored in Mechanical Engineering having studied at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. He is a Global Management Associate and holds a M.Sc in Automotive Product Engineering from Cranfield University also in the United Kingdom. Following his passion in the automobile industry where his father has been well established over the years, he also worked extensively in several departmental operations while at Toyota Motor Sales in the United States of America.

Kunle returned eventually to Nigeria and assumed as Business and Strategic Development Manager of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited and moved up the ladder.

Kunle is a Member of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria and Member of Council, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has attended various Executive Management Programmes both at the Lagos Business School and the Wits Business School, South Africa. Kunle is on the board of Custodian Investment Plc.[2]

Achievements[edit]

Kunle took over from Chandrasheker K. Thampy who until 2014 was the Managing Director of the Company.[3] This assumption into the office of the company's MD made him the fourth and yet youngest to have occupied that seat since the establishment of TNL.[4] Having assumed the position of the MD of the company in May 2014, Kunle had recorded some giant stride. One of his outstanding achievements as the Managing Director within his second year of leading the company is seeing to the establishment of the Toyota Assembly Plant in Nigeria and his supervision and test of the first Toyota Hiace bus assembled in the plant.

Socio-Economic Crusader[edit]

Kunle could be likened to be an advocate of a better working environment where businesses thrive and in turn boost the nation's GDP. In 2016 during a downturn of business for most industry player, he called on the Federal government of Nigeria to consider tax incentives for operators in the nation's auto industry to boost the economy.[5]
