The Kusakaru-Kotsu, Inc. (草軽交通株式会社 Kusakaru Koutsu Kabushiki-gaisha) is a bus company within the Tokyu Group which was established on 8 April 1987 in Karuizawa.
Outline
The company was established as a bus department of a railway company named as Kusakaru Electric Railway, and the railway line was discontinued in 1962. After that, the company renamed Kusakaru Electric Railway to Kusakaru Kotsu in 1966.
In 2001, the company sold its taxi department. Besides, the tour bus and chartered bus department of this company was split into Kusakaru Kanko Bus. So, this company operated only route buses, but it defected from Tokyu Corporation on 30 September 2009. Therefore, this company started to operate chartered buses and route buses. Kusakaru Kotsu had managed a hotel, but the capital of Tokyu withdrew from Kusatsu Onsen Tokyu (Now:Kusatsu Onsen Resort) on 30 September and Ikaho Tokyu Ville (Now: Oedo Onsen Monogatari Ikaho) on 31 March 2007, so this company does not manage any hotel.[1]

- 1928 - Permitted Kusatsu Electric Railway Corporation to operate a bus business.
- 1939 - The corporation name was renamed Kusatsu Electric Railway Corporation to Kusakaru Electric Railway Corporation.
- 1945 - The company became an affiliated company of Tokyu Corporation.
- 1960 - Discontinued Kusakaru Electric Railway Line between Karuizawa Station and Joshu-Mihara station, subsequent to rebuilding of bus routes.
- 1962 - Discontinued Kusakaru Electric Railway Line between Karuizawa Station and Kusatsu Onsen Station, following which the company specialized in operating route buses and charter buses.
- 1966 - The corporation name was renamed Kusakaru Electric Railway Corporation to Kusakaru-Kotsu, Inc..
- 1987 - Kusatsu Kanko Bus was established in Komoro, Nagano, specializing in chartered buses.
- 2001 - Divested the Taxi and Hire department to Daiichi Kotsu, and chartered buses were transferred to Kusakaru Kanko Bus.
- 2009
- On 30 September - This company was sold from Tokyu Corporation to J・L・D LLC, and the company defected from Tokyu Corporation.
- On 1 October - All business of Kusakaru Kotsu excluding a property department were merged into Kusakaru Kanko Bus, and Kusakaru Kanko Bus resumed as Kusakaru Kotsu.[2]

The Ueda Bus CO., LTD. (上田バス株式会社 Ueda bas Kabushiki gaisya) established as a subsidiary company of Ueda Electric Railway and had belonged to Tokyu Corporation Group until 2009. The Ueda Bus has been an affiliated company of Kusakaru Kotsu since 2011.

The company established in 1987 as Joden Kanko Bus, but the route buses operated by Ueda Bus had been operated by a bus department of Ueda Maruko Electric Railway since 1952 until 1999. And, this bus department had belonged to Tokyu Corporation since 1958 until 2009. The service area is located around the Toshin District that includes Ueda and Matsumoto.
