Kyriakos Georgiou
Kyriakos Georgiou (born 4 April 1992) is an English actor, screenwriter, director and photographer from London. His work includes short films, music videos and advertisements.
Biography[edit]
Kyriakos Georgiou was born into a Greek Cypriot family in London, United Kingdom. He studied at Forest Hill Performing Arts School in Lewisham and later went back to teach students the practicals of filmmaking and editing. Whilst working in education, Kyriakos branched off to begin his photography career. In 2012 he starred in an unaired TV pilot 'Doin' The Rounds' as Danny, which went on to win the BBC Best Entertainment Award at the Hertfordshire Visions Film Festival 2012. In 2013 Kyriakos played Reggie in the short 'Le Point Pragmatigue' directed by Jack Akers.
In 2016 Kyriakos starred in Southgate to Brighton [1] [2] [3] as Chris. After seven years of working in education, in 2019 Kyriakos left the profession and started his own independent production company Georgiou Films [4] and began making commercials for a range of businesses and charities. By the end of 2019 he began writing his first short 'Three Men and a Kitchen Table'.
In 2020 after the outbreak of Covid-19 Kyriakos wrote, directed and starred in the short comedy 'When Life Gives You Lemons'[5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11][12] [13] which he made entirely during isolation. To date, the lockdown short has had 31 official selections, 6 finalist places and won 2 awards [14] [15][16] [17] [18]. [19]. The Short Film will be featuring in an upcoming feature film 'Pandemic Diaries' produced by Cyrus Mirzashafa.
In July 2020, Kyriakos founded The South London Film Festival][20][21][22][23] with aims to repair and support the future of Artists and Filmmakers after the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic[24][25]. The South London Film Festival has since partnered with reputable organisations such as Raindance Film Festival, Backstage Casting and Red Giant.
