LAIKIPIA
LAIKIPIA[1] is the music of Trans-Atlantic duo Xander Rawlins and Taylor Harrison.
Based predominantly between the UK and Los Angeles, LAIKIPIA have performed live extensively and are known for their unique storytelling, character-driven songwriting and imaginative visual productions.
Describing LAIKIPIA as a Sonic Universe, their music blends organic and electronic elements with the aim of creating sonic landscapes. Much of their work is themed to underlying stories and messages presented through the fictional world they have built, much of which can be seen on their social platforms and YouTube channel. "Their artful storytelling illustrates a world worth visiting with themes of powerlessness, inspiration and anger[2]" - EARMILK
In 2017, the duo released their first four singles; "Hello Dreamer", "Down Down (feat.Thurz)", "Living Outside" and "I Know Love".
In November 2021, the duo independently released their debut album "All Hail Hyperion[3]" featuring popular tracks such as "Fly By", "The Hits Keep Coming" and "Painkiller (feat. Will & The People)".
In February 2022, LAIKIPIA was named as one of People Magazine's "Emerging Artists making their mark in 2022[4]"
Their music has been extensively featured on television and film, most recently with multiple placements in the Netflix series Ginny & Georgia ("Down Down (feat.Thurz)", "Living Outside", "Stay")
The name of the band was inspired by the landscapes and people Rawlins encountered in Kenya whilst serving as an officer with The Grenadier Guards.
