I was very shocked to see a video of a famous blogger, who was explaining LSI keywords as synonyms.

But that is totally wrong and a misleading concept. LSI keywords are not the same as synonyms. Let me give you an example.

Suppose you and I are writing two articles on ‘Mouse’. In my article, I have used some words like computer, Bluetooth, left-click, etc whereas you have used words like pest, animal, dirty place, plague, etc.

Now, what will Google understand?

Google will crawl both articles and will understand that my article is about ‘Computer Mouse’ and your article is about ‘Living Mouse’.

So, these words like computer, Bluetooth, left click or pest, animal, dirty place, plague are LSI keywords. These words are not synonyms of a mouse.

While some LSI keywords can be synonyms, not all LSI keywords are synonyms. The majority of LSI keywords are words and phrases that are closely related to your main keyword.

For example, a synonym for the word ‘child’ would be ‘baby’. However, LSI keywords for ‘child’ would include words like education, baby care, parenting, birth, and so on.
