Owais Ghaus (born September 26, 1993), known professionally as Lais (pronounced Lace) is an independent Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter.

Early life[edit]

Owais Ghaus was born on September 26, 1993 in Pakistan and moved to Virginia shortly after where he spent most of his childhood, until the end of middle school. Just before high school he moved to Brampton a small suburb outside of Toronto, Ontario.[1]

Music[edit]

In 2014, he saw himself garner viral attention within the music industry through Reddit's subsection, r/HipHopHeads and the submission of his first mixtape known only as SESSION ONE. His standout record, "For You" was remixed by NY native, Skizzy Mars, and the original was played on Drake's first ever set on OVO SOUND RADIO, EPISODE II.[2][1][3][4][5]

Discography[edit]

Ghaus debuted his first commercially available EP, 114, on February 18, 2016 premiered by COMPLEX.[6] The project was made available via digital release on all streaming platforms and the lead single Cocaine Rain peaked at #16 on the Canadian iTunes R&B Charts.
