Lamori (stylized LAMORI) is a gothic rock band from The Åland Islands, Finland. Previously known as L'Amori, the band later decided to changed the name to the more plane and straightforward LAMORI.[1] [2].

History[edit]

2006-2013: Formation, early years and first demo[edit]

The band roots back to 2006, when singer Matias Juselius and guitarist Marcus Pellas had ideas about starting a band in Mariehamn. Keyboardist Jens Wickholm soon joined, followed by basist Mikael Westerlund [2]. An acoustic live performance was done under the name L'Amori Acoustica [3]. A fruitless search for a drummer left the band on ice for two years [2].

In early 2009 drummer Emanuel Snachez joined the group. The band did their first gig some months later [4]. In 2011 the band recorded their first Demo EP, titled The Reservoirs of Darkness [5]. They later self released their first full-length album Deadly Desires in 2013 [6]. The album was voted Best Gothic Metal Album 2013 by Radio Online Gothic Metal Nicaragua listeners [7].

2014-2017: Signing with Wormholedeath[edit]

In 2014 the band penned a record deal with Italian label Wormholedeath [8]. Two years later the band released their first major album To Die Once Again through Wormholedeath in 2016. The album was received fairly well by critics in various magazines and webzines [9][10][11][12][13][14]. PowerPlay (music magazine) rated the album as 8/8 POWERPOINTS in issue #187 [15] and Sandro Lo Castro put the album at third place in his list over The 10 Best Albums of 2016 in Rock Hard (music magazine) [16]. Laureline Tilkin of Tuonela Magazine wrote "Despite the strong resemblance to HIM, LAMORI’s music is much darker, darker lyrics, even more melancholy. Musically LAMORI’s sound is heavier and it taps into a lot of elements from other genres, which makes this album very refreshing to listen to." [17].

2018-present: New album[edit]

In 2018 the band announced that they will release a second album through Wormholedeath [18]. As with the last album, the new album will be recorded in Italy. 1 March 2019 Wormholedeath and Hellion Records stated, through their Facebook pages, that the new LAMORI album will be titled Neo Noir, and that it will soon be released exclusively in Brazil and Argentina through Hellion Records [19][20]
