Lareal Iqwon Watt (born April 22, 1997) is a former student of Mauldin High School who is known for causing the school's bomb threat incident on March 17, 2015.[1] Watt wrote a bomb threat on a bathroom stall wall, and when it was seen and reported, everyone exited the building for around 45 minutes as police and detectives investigated. There were no bombs or other serious threats found on campus.[citation needed] During the incident, Watt was 17 years old and a senior at Mauldin High School who would have graduated that year.[2] He was officially arrested for the threat on March 19, charged as an adult.
Criminal charges[edit]
Bomb threat[edit]
For the bomb threat incident, Watt received a surety bond that included a charge for both the threat itself and a charge for major disruption of the students. This totaled a fine of $150,500. Watt's mother was unable to pay the fines, which caused Watt to be sent to jail and then was detained at Greenville County Detention Center.
Shoplifting[edit]
Later that year, on July 25, Watt was charged with the shoplifting of at most $2000. Little other details are known of this case.[3]
