Dr. Larry Griffin, Trumpet

Larry Griffin was born in Virginia and is a professor of Music (trumpet) at Ohio Wesleyan University.[1]

His performing highlights include performing as a soloist in a China tour (1981),[1] multiple performances in Switzerland, and a longtime teaching appointment at the International Music Camp in Manitoba, Canada (1990–2014), where he performs and coaches international youth musicians.[2]

Dr. Griffin is a freelance musician, clinician, and education specialist for the Conn/Selmer/Leblanc Instrument Company Inc., performing on Selmer, Leblanc, and Vintage One Trumpets designed by Fred Powell.[3] Based in central-Ohio, Griffin has performed with the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra, Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, Jazz to Go, and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra.[4][1]

A master teacher, his students include numerous public school music teachers around the U.S. and Japan, as well as notable trumpeters: Abram Wilson, jazz trumpeter in the United Kingdom, Dr. Ansyn Banks, University of Louisville,[5] and Dr. Mark Alan Wade, Denison University.[6]
