Laura Loewen is a Canadian pianist, vocal coach and professor at the University of Manitoba in collaborative piano.
Loewen holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts degree in Accompanying/Coaching from the University of Minnesota, where she was a fellowship student of Margo Garrett and Karl Paulnack. She tours internationally as a collaborative pianist with vocalists, instrumentalists and chamber ensembles, including with Canadian saxophonist Allen Harrington (saxophone) as the Harrington/Loewen duo. Loewen received the 2009 Winnipeg Rh Institution Foundation Award for her work in collaborative piano and vocal coaching. In 2014, she was elected to the Royal Society of Canada's College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. Loewen is the vocal coach and diction specialist at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, where she co-directs the collaborative piano department.
