Laura Loewen
Laura Loewen is a Canadian pianist, vocal coach and professor at the University of Manitoba in collaborative piano.
Loewen holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts degree in Accompanying/Coaching from the University of Minnesota, where she was a fellowship student of Margo Garrett and Karl Paulnack. She tours internationally as a collaborative pianist with vocalists, instrumentalists and chamber ensembles, including with Canadian saxophonist Allen Harrington (saxophone) as the Harrington/Loewen duo.[1] Loewen received the 2009 Winnipeg Rh Institution Foundation Award for her work in collaborative piano and vocal coaching.[2] In 2014, she was elected to the Royal Society of Canada's College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.[3] Loewen is the vocal coach and diction specialist at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, where she co-directs the collaborative piano department.[4]
