Latha Krishna[1] alias Lata Krishnaswamy is a classical dancer and choreographer with over three decades of stage experience. She is also an editor and director of over 200 short films both fiction and non-fiction. As a writer she has contributed over 100 articles to magazines.[citation needed] She was the script and screenplay writer for several of her films. Krishna has performed lead roles in three television series.[citation needed] She was born in Chennai on 6 November 1969, to Padmasri Dr. S. Krishnaswamy, a film historian and veteran documentary film maker and Dr. Mohana Krishnaswamy.

Classical dancer and choreographer[edit]

Latha along with her sister Gita performed her Bharatanatya arrangetram in 1981 tutored by teachers. For over three decades Latha has been choreographing and performing both individually and as a team[3][4]

Screen Writer[9][edit]

Whose Feature length screenplay titled ‘The Ascent’ was one of three winners in Wildsound international screenwriting contest[10]. Script Writer- for several non–fiction films. Writer[11] – who has contributed a column for a Holistic Life magazine ‘Infinithoughts’  for over ten years.

Actor[12][edit]

who has performed lead roles in 3 TV serials produced by Krishnaswamy associates- as princess turned saint Manimeghalai in "UPASANA[13]" based on the Tamil twin classics Silappadhikaram & Manimeghalai; as a star singer in "VISALAM[14]" which traces a matriarchal lineage of four generations of women; as Sister Nivedita[15], in "SWAMI VIVEKANANDA” based on the life history of the legendary saint from India.

 Screenplay of "The Ascent" written by Latha Krishna was selected as one of three WINNERS in the Canadian Wild Sound International Screenwriting contest.

1999 

"WHEN THE GODS DANCE[17]" a TV serial based on Indian classical dance Co- Directed by Latha Krishna, won the CREATIVE EXCELLENCE AWARD from the US International Film & Video Festival, Illinois

1995

SAVITRI – a 2-part Dance-Drama Choreographed and Performed by Latha Krishna & Gita won the CREATIVE EXCELLENCE AWARD from the US International Film & Video Festival, Illinois.

1991

OORARINDA RAHASYAM[18] a TV series of short stories won the BRISTOL DRAMA AWARD for the best television production. Produced by Dr. Mohana half the series was Directed by Latha Krishna.
