Lee Jong-hee (Hangul: 이종희; Hanja: 李鐘熙; born March 25, 1994), also known as Ireah, is a South Korean singer and actor. The stage name "Ireah" symbolizes "7 days" in Korean, and bears the meaning of "being lucky every day". He debuted as a member of the idol group MASC on October 12, 2017, as the lead vocalist, under JJ Holic Media and Lotus E&M. The group was subsequently disbanded on October 18, 2020. He is also known as a member of Team 7:00 from JTBC’s survival reality show - Peak Time.
Early life and education
Ireah was born in South Korea on March 25, 1994. He graduated from Kpop Vocal Major, the Department of Midi Music in Paekche Institute of the Arts. He was at the top of the whole department.[1][2]
2017-2020: Debut with MASC
In 2017, Ireah joined MASC as one of the four new members when MASC released the second single, "Do It", on October 12, 2017.[3]
JJ Holic Media announced on July 30, 2018, that members ACE and Chibin were leaving the group following a bullying incident in March where ACE verbally attacked Chibin. Additionally, 26 departed from MASC around the same time to pursue a career in directing. Another member, Doeun, also left the group on October 22, 2018, and the agency confirmed that MASC would continue as a four-member group going forward.
On May 12, 2019, MASC released the third single of "Maschera". On December 30, 2019, Ireah collaborated with At Night to release "Sweet Garden Feat. 이레 (IREAH)" as one of the co-lyricists and composers.
2020-2022: Disbandment of MASC
On October 17, 2020, the group announced their disbandment four years after their debut.[4][5][6]
Ireah enlisted for mandatory military service after MASC's disbandment and was assessed as a top soldier. He was subsequently discharged in 2022. Since his discharge, Ireah has been working as a vocal coach. He has also been qualified as a skin beautician.
2023: Garnering global attention through Peak Time
In 2023, Ireah participated in JTBC's survival reality show Peak Time as part of Team 7:00 with his fellow group member Heejae. They quickly gained recognition for their exceptional vocal abilities, and their rendition of NU'EST's "Hello" during the survival round earned widespread praise from both judges and audience members. [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14] On the show's finale, Team 7:00 revealed their group name as Masc (band) and finished in second place.[15]
