Lemoyne Emmanuel Alexander Smith (born October 15, 1964), known professionally as Lemoyne Alexander, is an African American singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist, and filmmaker. He is best known for his contributions to the rock music genre and for his debut album titled Solitude.[1][2] He was a member of the hard rock band St8 of Grace, through which he released four albums.[3][4]
Early life[edit]
Alexander was born in Chicago, Illinois to Oscar Lemoyne Smith and Barbara Jean Williams.[5] At an early age, Alexander developed an interest in music and was taught by his father. He started playing the guitar after being expelled from school under the influence of his parents, who had an appetite for R&B, Jazz, and Blues.[6][7]
Career[edit]
In the late 1970s, Alexander pursued his musical career through a band that he had made with his classmates that featured his brother on the drums called The Young Masters. The local band won all the neighborhood talent contests across town, which earned them a place in the studio where Alexander learned the craft of production.[8]
In 1974, collaborated with the British Rock Band Queen on the song Killer Queen written by Freddie Mercury and recorded for the band's third album Sheer Heart Attack.[9]
In 1996, Alexander signed with Michael Bivins's Biv10 Records as a producer with a roster of new artists, including the R&B soul group, Subway. During this period, he has worked with multiple companies such as the Londell McMillan's, North Star, Motown, Rap-A-Lot, and RCA.
In 2009, After investing much of his time in the R&B genre, Alexander decided to pursue his love and passion for rock music by forming a hard rock band called St8 of Grace. The band went on to release four albums, their last album This Endless War was released in 2016.[6][10]
In 2014, he produced the single The Longest Way for Australian rapper Nick de la Hoyde reaching number 36 on the top 40 indicator chart. This eventually led him into more features like Laundromat, which was based on a true story and released in 2016.[11]
In 2019, Alexander signed to Isotopia Records to release his debut rock album, Solitude.[12] The album was released during the peak stages of the global pandemic COVID-19. On the album, Alexander, under the early influences of music, played all the instruments on the album.[1][13]
In 2020, Alexander produced songs for several recording artists including, R. Kelly, Fat Joe, Layzie Bone, Aaliyah, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Scarface, K-Ci & JoJo and Twista with a team of producers called 3 Da Hardway.[6][14]
In 2021, he released a follow-up single titled Mr. Policeman. The single was featured on the album A Perfect World, which was based on the outcry of 2020; the record garnered critical reviews. The album is expected to release during the Spring of 2022.

Alexander has contributed to Film and T.V. by offering his contributions to The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Doctors, and Iyanla. Despite his contributions to television, Alexander wanted to compose scores for movies, and he went on to create music for the Cult Classic movie titled Crime Partners, for which he was credited as LA Smith.[15]
