Lentihominibacter is a genus of slow-growing, rod-shaped, and non-motile bacteria isolated from human feces.[1] The type species is Lentihominibacter hominis. The genus name combines the Latin words lentus, meaning "slow", homo, meaning "human", and bacter, meaning "rod".[2]
The type strain of L. hominis, NSJ-24T (= CGMCC 1.32874T = KCTC 25076T), was isolated from human feces. Its cells are rod-shaped and non-motile, and growth on modified Gifu anaerobic medium occurs at 37 °C over 3–10 days.[1]
Taxonomy
L. hominis is the only validly published species. A second species, "Lentihominibacter faecis", was described in the same study, but its name has not been validly published.[2]
