Lew Blum

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Lew Blum (born 1954 or 1955)[1] is a Philadelphia towing businessman, known for the number of large signs his company has posted in parking lots across Philadelphia.

Blum is the second child in a family of Jewish and Greek heritage and grew up in West Philadelphia. He worked for his grandfather, Lew Smith, for whom he is named, and then for his uncle, George Smith, and after falling out with him in 1976[1] began his own business after buying a used car on credit.[2] He is known for the thousands of signs his company has posted throughout the city,[3] and has been called "one of Philadelphia's biggest celebrities".[1]

Drivers have complained that Blum's company tows their cars illegally,[1][4] as in the case of the parking lot next to the former University City High School, where the towing was later confirmed to be legal.[5]
