Lewys Holt
Lewys Holt (born 10 April 1992 in Mold) is a British choreographer and dancer. He's worked for a number of artists across the Uk and Europe including Tino Sehgal, Sally Marie, New Art Club, Simone Mousset, Rosemary Lee and Christopher Owen.
His work has been described as a mixture of comedy and dance[1] with elements of stand up comedy, and improvisation. His shows often include film and projection. He describes himself as an interdisciplinary dance artist.
Holt's style has been described as " ...both delightfully and disconcertingly bizarre".[2] and "quirky, ridiculous and fantastic"[1]
Career[edit]
Holt graduated from the De Montfort University with both an undergraduate and masters degree in dance. Prior to this he attended Lady Lumley's school with an interest in theatre and music before deciding to focus on dance. Upon graduating he formed and co-led the midlands based performance group Tetrad before its closure in 2019. His work is supported by Arts Council England, Dance4, Yorkshire Dance, Attenborough Arts Centre, Curve and Camden People's Theatre. As well as working internationally as a dancer and choreographer, he also lecturers at a number of higher education institutions and is supported by Siobhan Davies Studios
