Lili Hayes (born April 7, 1947)[1] is an Israeli-American social media influencer and store owner known for her videos on TikTok and Instagram which are created by her son, Kevin. She is also known for her accent and her frequent frustration with Kevin.
Hayes was born in Yugoslavia and was raised in Israel. She moved to the United States where she has spent time in New York City but primarily Los Angeles.[2] She was previously married to a deceased man. She has indicated that she has other children besides Kevin, but it is unclear who they are. Since living in the U.S., Hayes has owned a retail clothing store in the Los Angeles Fashion District. She says that because of the number of Latino customers she has, she has learned fluent Spanish.[3]
Hayes began making videos on Instagram but later began making TikTok videos as well after the platform became popular. Her videos are primarily based on Kevin playing pranks on her or bothering her. The videos are almost always filmed by Kevin. They also do skits based on movies and TV shows such as Scarface, and SpongeBob SquarePants.[2] She is also recognizable and known for her distinctive accent, retro style Cazal glasses, and ironic Supreme hat which is typically considered to be a brand for Generation Z.[4]
In 2017, Hayes was featured in a Vogue article.[5] Also in 2017, she appeared in a video where she sang with Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Fiona Apple, a friend of Kevin's.[4] In 2020, she was featured in a Jimmy Kimmel Live! April Fools' Day segment, however, she never appeared live on the show.[6] In the same year, Hayes also appeared in an episode of Tosh.0 on Comedy Central. In 2021, she appeared on a "Generation Gap" game on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.[1] Christina Aguilera also responded to one of Hayes' videos.[7] In 2021, Hayes received a brand deal with KFC after her TikTok character "Colonel Lili Sandwich" (referencing her odd pronunciation of "colonel" and Colonel Sanders) went viral.[8]
On Instagram, Hayes has 592K followers and 3.4 million followers on TikTok (both as of April 15, 2021).
