Liu Lina 刘丽娜 is an performing artist and acrobat from Harbin, China. On 28 April 2011 she managed to balance nine open parasols on the set of Italian television series Lo Show Dei Record in Milan, Italy, breaking her previous record of eight parasols and earning her a place in the 2014 Guinness Book of World Records.

Early life[edit]

​Lina Liu began learning umbrella juggling when she was only 9 years old. At 14, she performed with the circus in China. She soon rose to an international level, performing all over the world: Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and Japan.

Career[edit]

Since 1997, she began to practice acrobatics in Harbin. In 2000, she was admitted to the Dalian Acrobatic Troupe, a selective dancers group based in Dalian, China. She has been awarded certificates from the Guinness World Records twice: once in 2009 when she balanced eight parasols at once, and again in 2014 when she broke her previous record by balancing nine.

Performance Style[edit]

Lina Liu incorporates intricate acrobatics, elegant costumes, and juggling into her performances while paying homage to traditional Chinese dance styles. Her performance style is also influenced by ballet.
