From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Lisa Ann Duffy (born 1968) is a British politician who is a local councillor for the UK Independence Party in Cambridgeshire. She has been a member of Huntingdonshire District Council since 2012, representing Ramsey, and is leader of the UKIP group of three.[1] Duffy is also a member of Ramsey Town Council and was the mayor of Ramsey in 2011.[2] She is employed as chief of staff for UKIP MEP, Patrick O'Flynn.

She joined UKIP in 2004 and stood in Salford in the 2005 general election, losing her deposit.

In July 2016, she announced that she is running to be leader of UKIP in the UK Independence Party leadership election, 2016 following the resignation of Nigel Farage.[3] Duffy was backed by Suzanne Evans, who had been a frontrunner in the election before Evans announced that she would not run.[4][5][6][7]

On 8 August she made a speech calling for a shutdown of Muslim schools and Sharia courts and a ban on Islamic full-face veils in public spaces.[8] The remarks were compared to those of Donald Trump. Duffy denied "chasing the bigot vote".[9]

Personal life[edit]

Duffy is married to Peter Reeve, a fellow UKIP councillor on Huntingdonshire District Council.[2]
