List of Big Brother 5 (American season) houseguests
The fifth edition of the American reality series Big Brother featured a total of 14 house guests, and aired in the summer of 2004.
Adria[edit]
Adria Klein (born 1974 in Birmingham, Alabama), was a fitness professional from Birmingham, Alabama. Adria was a part of the "Twin Twist" of Project DNA, in which she would frequently trade spots in the house with her twin sister, Natalie, who played as Adria. The two had the goal of making to the fifth week, and if they succeeded, Natalie would enter the game as an individual. The group went on to complete the task, and Natalie entered the house. Adria was a part of the girls alliance with Diane, Nakomis, Karen, Lori, Natalie and Will, though also had close friendships with Michael and Drew. Marvin often referred to her as "Big Bootylicious" due to the size of her buttocks, a joke that lasted during her stay in the house. Adria was first nominated for eviction on Day 25, as a replacement nominee for ally Nakomis. Despite attempts to evict her, she ultimately survived the eviction. She was the sixth Head of Household of the season, and made the decision to turn on her alliance and nominate Will and Marvin for eviction. She also won the Power of Veto that week, and chose to leave her nominations intact, resulting in Will's eviction. The following week, Adria was nominated alongside Natalie, but she won her second consecutive Power of Veto and saved herself from the block. Natalie was evicted that week. Adria was nominated for a second time the following week, and was evicted on Day 63 after failing to win the Power of Veto. Adria came in seventh place. She was the third member of the Jury and voted for Michael to win.
Diane[edit]
Diane Nicole Henry (born 1982 in Euless, Texas), was a cocktail waitress from Burlington, Kentucky. She is the first HouseGuest to helm from Kentucky in Big Brother history. Diane revealed that she has a twin sister, Lindsay, outside of the house. Diane was a part of the girls alliance with Karen, Nakomis, Adria, Natalie, Lori and Will. While in the house, Diane had a romantic relationship with HouseGuest Drew, which ultimately led to her turning on the girls alliance. Diane often fought with Jase and Scott during their time in the house, and strongly disliked Holly, despite acting like her friend. Despite being a target for the Four Horsemen in the early weeks, her friendship with Drew played a role in keeping her safe. She was the first female Head of Household this season, after winning a nine-hour-long endurance competition. She nominated Jase and Scott for eviction, culminating in Scott's eviction. The following week, Diane was nominated for eviction as part of Nakomis's "Six Finger Plan", which led to Drew winning the Power of Veto and using it to save Diane. When Adria turned on the girls alliance, Drew and Diane began to side with her, causing Diane's friendship with Nakomis and Karen to strain. Diane was nominated for eviction a second time on Day 64, but won her first Power of Veto competition and saved herself. On Day 66, Diane won her second consecutive Power of Veto competition, and later used it to save Drew. She was nominated against Nakomis in the Final Four, but Michael chose to cast the sole vote in Diane's favor. On Day 78, Drew won the Final Head of Household competition, and shockingly cast the sole vote to evict his romantic partner Diane. She came in third place. She was the seventh member of the jury, and voted for Drew to win.
Following her appearance on Big Brother 5, Diane was voted back into the house two years later for Big Brother: All Stars, along with Jase and Nakomis. Diane was ultimately evicted on Day 32, coming in 11th place.
Drew[edit]
Andrew Theodore "Drew" Daniel (born April 28, 1982, in Springfield, Ohio), was a college graduate from Urbana, Ohio. He has a twin brother, Ben, outside of the house. Early in the first days, Drew became a member of the "Four Horsemen" alliance with Jase, Scott and Michael. Despite his allegiance to them, he later played a part in Jase's eviction during the fifth week. He had a romantic relationship with fellow HouseGuest Diane Henry, who also had a twin outside of the house. He had close friendships with Adria and Will in the house as well. Drew was the third Head of Household of the season, after winning the trivia based competition. He went on to win the fifth Power of Veto competition, which he used to save Diane. His decision caused Jase to be nominated in her place, and he was ultimately evicted. On Day 63, he won the ninth Head of Household competition during a Double Eviction Week, and nominated Diane and Marvin for eviction. When Diane won the Veto, he named Nakomis her replacement nominee. The following week, Nakomis chose to nominate Drew for eviction, but Diane won the Power of Veto and chose to save him. Drew then won the following Head of Household competition, and ultimately led to Nakomis's eviction. He was the winner of both the first and final round of the Final Head of Household competition, and made the shocking decision to evict romantic partner Diane from the house. He was crowned the winner of the $500,000 grand prize on Day 82 in a four to three jury vote.
Holly[edit]
Holly Michelle King (born August 20, 1982, in Hollywood, California), was a model living in Los Angeles, California. Before entering the house, she had previously appeared in numerous television series and independently released films. Holly was seen as a "ditzy blonde" by her fellow HouseGuests, and was not liked by the majority of the women in the house. Holly believed she was friends with everyone in the house, and failed to realize that she was disliked by several HouseGuests. Shortly before her eviction, she had an altercation with Diane when Holly discovered that Diane had been lying about being her friend. Holly was in a romantic relationship with Jase while in the house, while also having a flirtatious relationship with Scott, which caused problems between the two men. Marvin was often seen flirting with Holly, though she did not appear to reciprocate the feelings. Holly was nominated for eviction by Marvin on Day 15, with Marvin referring to her as one of the strongest players in the game. When Jase won the Golden Power of Veto that week, he chose to save Holly from eviction. The following week, Jase's ally Drew won Head of Household and made the shocking decision to nominate Holly, citing her "ability to influence people's decisions in a matter of hours" as a huge threat in the game. When the Four Horsemen failed to win the Power of Veto and save her, they devised a plan to get her the votes to stay. When they saw her kiss Jase, however, they aborted the plan. She was ultimately evicted on Day 28 in a seven to one vote. She came in 12th place.
Since her appearance on Big Brother 5, Holly went on to host a Power of Veto competition in Big Brother 6, which featured a Vegas theme. She has also stated that she was meant to be a candidate to return for Big Brother: All Stars, but chose not to participate when she learned that Jase would be participating as well. Holly did, however, make a brief appearance that season when she stole a rubber duck from the house for a Head of Household competition. She was a Guest Co-Host for House Calls: The Big Brother Talk Show following her appearance on the series.
Jase[edit]
Jason "Jase" Wirey (born 1976), was a volunteer firefighter from Decatur, Illinois. During the first week, Jase helped formed the "Four Horsemen" alliance with Drew, Scott and Michael. Scott Savage came up with the name and idea behind the 4 horsemen. Both Jase and Scott were seen as physical threats early in the game, after the two won both the first Head of Household and Power of Veto competitions. While in the house, Jase had a romantic relationship with fellow HouseGuest Holly. Despite Jase and Scott often being seen as best friends in the game, they had numerous arguments over Holly, with both believing she had feelings for them. Jase engaged in numerous verbal arguments with several of his fellow HouseGuests, mainly Lori, Diane, Mike, Marvin, Adria and even Holly at times. Jase was the first Head of Household of the season, and successfully got Mike evicted from the house, who had been gunning for Jase and Scott. Jase was the winner of the second Power of Veto, and used it to save Holly from eviction. During the third week, Jase was shocked when his alliance voted to evict Holly, leading to a strain on their friendship. Jase and Scott were later nominated together in the fourth week by Diane, but Jase won his second Power of Veto and used it on himself. The following week, Head of Household Nakomis devised a plan, known as the "Six Finger Plan", to evict Jase from the house and disable him from competing for the Power of Veto. She nominated two of her allies, and when the Veto was used on one of them, nominated Jase in their place. He was evicted on Day 42 in a six to one vote. He came in 10th place.
Jase was voted into the Big Brother: All Stars house by the viewers, and ultimately came in 12th place. He went on to appear in Big Brother 10 as a representative for Big Brother 5 in a food competition. Jase was included in the poll to choose as a houseguest in Big Brother Canada 4, but was not chosen to compete.
Karen[edit]
Karen Ann (O'Neil) Ganci (born 1974), was a portrait artist originally from Saddle Brook, New Jersey, who is now living in Spring Hill, Florida. While in the house, she was a part of the girls alliance with Diane, Nakomis, Adria, Natalie, Lori and Will. She had close friendships with Lori and Will, and bonded with Nakomis following their evictions. She was nominated during the second week as a replacement nominee for Holly, who had been saved with the Power of Veto by Jase. She survived the eviction in a seven to two vote on Day 21. In the tenth week, Karen was the only HouseGuest eligible to be nominated after Diane used the Power of Veto to save Drew. Diane and Drew then cast the two votes to evict Karen on Day 70. She came in 5th place. She was the fifth member of the jury, and voted for Drew to win.
Lori[edit]
Lori Valenti (born 1977 in Woburn, Massachusetts), was a yoga instructor from Woburn, Massachusetts. She was a part of the girls alliance with Nakomis, Diane, Adria, Karen and Will. She was closest with the latter two, forming an alliance with them early on. During the first food competition, Lori won $10,000 in exchange for putting the other HouseGuests on the peanut butter and jelly diet. The decision ultimately came back to haunt her the following week, when Marvin nominated her for eviction. She was evicted on Day 21 in a seven to two vote. She came in 13th place.
Marvin[edit]
Marvin Latimer (born 1967), was a mortician from Conway, South Carolina. He was seen as "loud" and "obnoxious" by his fellow HouseGuests, and was nearly nominated during the first week. He formed an alliance with Jase, Drew, Michael and Scott known as the "Santa Monica Van Boys", though the other members were only using Marvin. He was seen as flirtatious by the other HouseGuests, and numerous female HouseGuests expressed discomfort with his romantic advances, including Holly, Diane and Lori. He was the second Head of Household of the season, and nominated Holly and Lori for eviction. He later had to nominate Karen as a replacement for Holly, who was saved by Jase. Marvin expressed his displeasure with nominating Karen in Holly's place, as he had hoped for Holly's eviction that week. He was nominated three consecutive times in weeks four, five and six, surviving each eviction. He won the eighth Head of Household competition, his second win of the season, and successfully evicted Adria from the house. The day after Adria's eviction, however, Marvin was evicted as part of the Double Elimination Week. He came in sixth place. He was the fourth member of the jury, and voted for Drew to win.
Marvin returned in 2006 for Big Brother: All Stars, in which he hosted a food competition with Big Brother 4 winner Jun Song and Big Brother 2 Runner-Up Nicole Nilson Schaffrich.
Michael[edit]
Michael "Cowboy" Douglas Ellis (born 1980 in Houston, Texas), was a security officer from Durant, Oklahoma. He is engaged, and has a stepson from his fiance's previous relationship. Michael was part of the Project DNA twist, in which he learned during the first week that HouseGuest Jennifer "Nakomis" Dedmon was actually his half sister, with the two sharing the same father. Michael was a part of the "Four Horsemen" alliance with Jase, Scott and Drew which was formed during the first week. Despite the other members of the group often turning on another, Michael remained loyal to all three members, something they all expressed appreciation for. He also had a close friendship with Adria, and later Natalie. He was also friends with Holly, due to her romantic relationship with Jase. Michael was often seen as a weak player by his fellow houseGuests, which at times included his own alliance members. He was nominated in Weeks 7, 8, and 10, though he survived the eviction each time. Michael was the winner of the final Power of Veto competition, his first win of the season. The win gave him the sole vote to evict either Diane or his half sister Nakomis, and he eventually chose the latter. He was the winner of the second part of the Final Head of Household competition, and faced off against "Horsemen" alliance member Drew. Drew ultimately beat Michael in the final round, but chose to evict Diane and taking Michael to the Final Two. On Day 82, Michael won the $50,000 prize and was crowned the Runner-Up of the season, receiving three votes to win from the jury.
Following his appearance on the season, he was a contender to appear on Big Brother: All Stars, but was ultimately not selected to return. He was a candidate to return to the house in 2009, for Big Brother 11. Should his "clique", the Offbeats, win the first Head of Household competition, he would return and automatically be the first Head of Household. His clique was the second eliminated from the competition, and he did not return.
Mike[edit]
Mike "The Don" Lubinski (born 1963), is a dad and painter from Eastpointe, Michigan. He was originally a finalist for Big Brother 4, but ultimately did not make the final cast. During the first week, he attempted to bring the house together against Jase and Scott, who he deemed as the strongest competitors in the house. His plan backfired, however, and he was nominated that week. Despite attempting to get the votes to stay, Mike was the first person evicted from the House on Day 14. He came in 14th place.
Nakomis[edit]
Jennifer Jeannene "Nakomis" Dedmon (born 1983 in Houston, Texas), was a restaurant waitress from San Antonio, Texas. Though her real name is Jennifer, she requested to go by the name "Nakomis", a name she claimed she got when she was fifteen. The name "Nakomis" means "daughter of the moon". During the opening title, she was referred to as Jennifer, though this was changed halfway through the season as no one in the house referred to her as Jennifer, but as Nakomis. Despite the change, her key still said Jennifer. She was a member of the girls alliance and had close friendships with Karen, Lori and Will. She discovered in the first week that Michael was her half-brother, as the two shared the same father. Nakomis later stated that she didn't know if she would like Michael, as she didn't typically hang out with guys like him. Despite this statement, the two keep in touch outside of the game[citation needed]. She was nominated during the first week by Head of Household Jase, but survived the eviction in a unanimous vote against Mike. She was nominated for a second time on Day 22, but the following day won her first Power of Veto competition and saved herself. She won the fifth Head of Household competition, and created the "Six Finger Plan", now commonly referred to as "backdooring". She used her plan to successfully evict Jase from the house. Following Adria's decision to turn on the girls alliance and evict Will, Nakomis won her second consecutive Head of Household competition, and nominated twins Adria and Natalie for eviction, resulting in the eviction of the latter. She was nominated on Day 64 as a replacement nominee for Diane during the Double Eviction Week, but survived the eviction. Minutes later she won her third Head of Household competition. She nominated Drew and Michael for eviction, but when Diane won the Veto and saved Drew, Nakomis's ally Karen was the only eligible HouseGuest to nominate. This ultimately led to Karen's eviction that week. The following week, Nakomis was nominated against Diane. Michael won the final Power of Veto competition, giving him the sole vote to evict. On Day 75, Michael cast the sole vote to evict Nakomis. She came in 4th place. She was the sixth member of the Jury, and voted for Michael to win.
In 2006, Nakomis appeared on Big Brother: All Stars, where she ultimately came in 13th place.
Natalie[edit]
Natalie Carroll (born 1974 in Birmingham, Alabama), was a fitness professional. She was a part of the Project DNA twist, in which she traded places in the house with her twin sister, Adria, during the first four weeks of the game. The two played as Adria, and the other HouseGuests were unaware of the twist. Natalie officially entered the house on Day 35, following Scott's eviction. She was a member of the girls alliance with Adria, Nakomis, Diane, Karen and Will during her first official week in the house. When Adria became the sixth Head of Household, she turned against the girls alliance, and Natalie was forced to do so as well. Adria's decision came back to haunt the sisters, as they were nominated together on Day 50. Adria won the Power of Veto and used it on herself, which ultimately led to Natalie's eviction on Day 56. She came in 8th place. She was the second member of the jury, and voted for Michael to win.
Scott[edit]
Scott Long (born 1979 in Cleveland, Ohio), was a sales representative from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Known as the Savage on Big Brother. Played college football at the University of Pittsburgh. During the first week in the house, he formed the "Four Horsemen" alliance with Jase, Drew and Michael. Both Jase and Scott were seen as physical threats in the game, and the two had a close friendship. Scott was also close with Michael, who he had a brotherly relationship with. Scott had a flirtatious relationship with Holly, which led to tension between him and Jase over Holly. He had numerous altercations with Diane, who ultimately nominated him during the fourth week. He was evicted on Day 35 in a four to three vote. He was ousted because twins were switching in and out of the house and he had an agreement to stay but the vote left when the twin twist entered the house.
Scott appeared in an episode of Big Brother: All Stars
Will[edit]
Charles William "Will" Wikle III (born December 15, 1978 in Bangor, Maine), was a registered nurse. Will is openly gay. While in the house, he had close friendships with Diane, Adria, Natalie, Nakomis, Karen and Lori. He was considered a member of the girls' alliance. He made an alliance with Jase before his eviction, though he claimed it was only to protect himself should Jase win Head of Household. He was nominated in the sixth week by former ally Adria, who was attempting to divide the house into three alliances. He was evicted on Day 49 when Adria broke a tie against him. He came in 9th place. He was the first member of the jury and voted for Drew to win.
Will went on to have his own show on the Logo network called Round Trip Ticket and has appeared in various independent films.
