Hamilton is currently the all-time top-polesitter with 103 poles.

Lewis Hamilton is a British racing driver and joint-record seven time Formula One World Champion who currently holds the record for the most pole positions all-time in Formula One history with 103. He took his first pole position in his rookie campaign at the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix by outqualifying then-teammate and reigning double world champion at the time, Fernando Alonso, by 0.456 seconds and subsequently converted pole position into his maiden Grand Prix victory in Formula One.[1][2] Hamilton then scored a further five pole positions throughout the year and was able to set the record for most pole positions in a debut season with six.[3] He also set the record for the most pole positions in Formula One history by scoring his 69th pole position of his career at the 2017 Italian Grand Prix, breaking Michael Schumacher's previous all-time record of 68 which he had equalled in the previous round in Belgium.[4] Hamilton is also currently the only driver to score at least a century of pole positions in Formula One, taking his 100th pole at the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix by outqualifying eventual world champion Max Verstappen by a close margin of 0.036 seconds.[5]

Hamilton has been able to set the record for most pole positions converted into race victories with 61, among them his maiden pole in Canada 2007.[6] All of his pole positions were also achieved with cars powered by Mercedes; with 26 of them achieved with McLaren and the remaining 77 with Mercedes. Additionally, he is currently the joint-record holder for the most pole positions at the same Grands Prix by scoring eight pole positions at the Australian and Hungarian Grand Prix respectively – a record he currently shares with fellow world champions Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna.[7] He also holds the record for pole positions at most different Grands Prix and circuits with 30 and 32 respectively and for most consecutive seasons with at least one pole position with 15.[8][9][10] His largest pole margin was at the 2020 Styrian Grand Prix where he outqualified Verstappen by 1.216 seconds in wet conditions.[11] His closest decider for pole position was at the 2014 Singapore Grand Prix, beating out then-teammate and future world champion Nico Rosberg by only 0.007 seconds.[12]
