Cast[edit]

The entire cast works together to create a crackpot, unrealistic outburst of coincidences, overlapping stories and destructive happenstances surrounding the kitchen.

  • Anna - The leader of the mission, she is a careless woman who, like pretty much everyone else, acts selfishly for her own wants. Anna at first tries to control everyone, and is cold-hearted, acting on reasons to get expensive things. After which, she pursued a relationship with Joe, and the two had a pseudo-romantic love that everyone doubted from time to time. Anna always wants to prove others wrong, and works spontaneously to do so, losing sight of the mission.
  • Joe - He is a deadbeat, a bore. Joe frequently plays down action with sighs and shaky reasoning. He also impishly and shyly goes about chores, remaining the only fully qualified member of the group to rely on, despite his efforts to be selfless and avoid favors. Joe grows to team with Loren and his friend Sgt. Muldoon for "retirement" activities.
  • Nick - Nick initially is a sarcastic, idiotic mature kid who says reasonable logic but does stupid, idiotic actions. He lacks foresight to consequences which could take place, in the way of outbursts and insensitivity. He remains "even Steven" throughout the series, getting stuck in spots but always coming back to the kitchen table by the end. He pursues a confused relationship in season 12.
  • Kaos - The eccentric, tall and lanky fun guy who is the most successful. Kaos is the only character who genuinely marries, is loved by everyone because of his loud, intelligent activities which end well for him but bad for others. Kaos is at first a guy who helps everyone, feeding them his success, but grows into a more self-reliant famous personality and dates Luna for the last part of the series. He is the only character to move completely non-reliant from the kitchen.
  • Edward - He is a fat, bald and impish little man who teams with Joe for daily activites, assisting others as needed but he explores life's objects such as TV, food and magazines instead of relationships. Edward tries multiple business endeavors both solo and with Loren, but misses cues and they fail. He also pursues a hooker in the early years despite it being an unrequited love at first. It ends understandably bad.
  • Loren - Loren is the landlord of the aliens, he has frizzy hair and is/was a banker. It is not known how he keeps his job working abroad, since he hangs out in the kitchen every morning if not all the time. However, when the aliens go camping, he takes advantage of the empty mansion and works from it. Loren is always muscling into the lives of the aliens and goes along with their plans, driven by the constant inflation of money. When it is time to move on, Loren tries to evict the aliens and wakes up to their identity after a decade of obliviousness. Loren was rated the "most loved comedy character" in a 2024 poll for US television sitcoms.
  • Luna (2015-2020) - Luna was an immigration lawyer who worked with Nick when he faced eviction in Season 8. After taking Nick to Mexico and trying to get him to relax, she stumbles upon Kaos on TV and the two start a romantic relationship which is nurtured by the others at first, then condemned. However, they are cheered on and she adds to the group dynamic with her infatuation and willingness for anything to happen. She and Kaos get married, move in together, have a fight, and break up all in the space of 3 episodes.
The Kitchen main set of The Barraclough Series, 2020.
The main set; The Kitchen, as it appeared in 2020 during filming for The Ending.
Theme: Kitchen[edit]

The Kitchen is the focal point of action in the show. Characters meet there daily. Throughout the show, it was taxed incredibly for spacing (Nick has to run across it, everyone is there at once), props (a turkey, VR, Japanese restaurant) and dramatic situations. In the first season, it serves as an open-close spot for the events of the episodes, but characters can be seen without. In the third season, it is not seen often because of the office space, but is featured in brief snippets after credits. When the friend circle is somewhat expanded, the kitchen got very crowded, but it elevated the chaos and overlapping coincidences. Episodes that take place in morning show that Loren gets up early to walk into the kitchen at the moment everyone gets up, and Luna shows up after sleeping with Kaos. When the kitchen is converted for a business or event, the decor is ignored by Loren and Joe who go about their normal routine.
