List of Twenty20 International cricket matches

A Twenty20 International (T20I) is a form of cricket, played between two of the top members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), in which each team faces 20 overs. The matches have major cricket status and are the highest T20 standard. The matches are playing among either Full Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) or the top six Associate and Affiliate members. Currently all 10 Test playing nations with 12 Affiliate nations are playing Twenty20 International Cricket.

The first T20I was played between New Zealand and Australia on 17 February 2005. Ricky Ponting lead Aussies and Stephen Fleming lead Blackcaps in the match. Australians won the match and became the winners of first ever T20I match, and losing side New Zealand became first losers.[1]

World Twenty20 Journey[edit]

2007[edit]

Airst ICC World Twenty20 was held in South Africa from 11 to 24 September 2007 with the participation of 12 nations. India beat Pakistan in the final and became the first ever Twenty20 World Champions.

2009[edit]

The Second ICC World Twenty20 was held in England from 5 to 21 June 2009 with the participation of 12 nations. Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in the final and became the second Twenty20 World Champions.

2010[edit]

The Third ICC World Twenty20 was held in the West Indies from 30 April to 16 May 2010 with the participation of 12 nations. England beat Australia in the final and became the third Twenty20 World Champions.

2012[edit]

The Fourth ICC World Twenty20 was held in Sri Lanka from 18 September to 7 October 2012 with the participation of 12 nations. West Indies beat the hosts Sri Lanka in the final and became the fourth Twenty20 World Champions.

2014[edit]

The Fifth ICC World Twenty20 was held in Bangladesh from 16 March to 6 April 2014 with the participation of 16 nations. Sri Lanka beat India in the final and became the fifth Twenty20 World Champions.

2016[edit]

The Sixth ICC World Twenty20 was held in India from 15 March to 3 April 2016 with the participation of 16 nations.West Indies beat England in the final and became the Twenty20 World Champions for the second time.

2020[edit]

The Seventh ICC World Twenty20 to be held in Australia in 2020 with the participation of 16 nations.
