Peru[edit]

Peru has major internet providers, Movistar and Claro. Both cable operators offer their services with no download cap.

Movistar

The Movistar network is in the digitalization process. These speeds are offered in Lima; in other departments the speeds may vary.

Due to the ADSL technology limitations, some speeds can't be contracted in some locations, because the customer premises can be too far from the telephone exchange's provider (DSLAM).

The services from 15 Mbit/s and down can include cable TV at customer request; speeds from 20 Mbit/s can be contracted only with cable TV included.

Belgium[edit]

There are several cable providers in Belgium. Each has its own covered area within Belgium. For Flanders, there's Telenet; for Wallonia, there's VOO and for Brussels, there's Numericable.

Details about Telenet[edit]

Internet service Downstream Upstream Bandwidth included Price
Basic Internet 30 Mbit/s 3 Mbit/s 150 Gigabyte 27,50 EUR

[53]

In 2007 Telenet bought UPC Belgium (cable deliverer in Brussels and Leuven). Telenet holds a monopoly on the Flemish cable network, which is why prices are high and included bandwidth is low. Telenet plans to use DOCSIS 3.0 as their new standards. They will use the bandwidth to support their high definition transmissions. Mach3 is the name of this new standard, which rolled out in 2010.

Cyprus[edit]

In Cyprus, Cablenet [61] provides up to 120 Mbit/s downstream and 8 Mbit/s upstream.

Estonia[edit]

In Estonia, there are three major cable internet providers (amongst other, smaller providers): AS Starman, Elion Enterprises Limited and STV AS. Elion offers higher speeds for the same price in certain areas where the infrastructure has been improved (end-goal being that everyone will move to higher speed plans eventually) and hence both options have been outlined in the table below.

Starman currently retains its old plans for customers who don't wish to upgrade and who joined the service before 21 September 2014 (the old plans have speeds approximately half of the current speeds and with costs lower by 11%-23%, depending on the plan). Starman no longer utilises the PowerBoost technology with its new service plans.

STV applies region-based pricing and the price/speed ratio is largely dependent on the different service plans. The prices specified in the table below are only for the Saturn service plans.

Finland[edit]

In Finland, the three main ISPs for cable internet are Welho, Elisa and Sonera and there are several smaller local providers. These three largest have told of upgrades to DOCSIS 3.0 speeds as early as 2007. At least Elisa already offers 10/1M and 30/1M speeds requiring an 3.0 version modem, and provides Netgear CM232 to upgrading customers.

Approximately 40% of households in Germany are connected to the cable TV network.

Unitymedia (a subsidiary of Liberty Global, serving North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Baden-Württemberg) offers up to 400 Mbit/s down and 20 Mbit/s up. The maximum speed at Vodafone (formerly Kabel Deutschland, available in the other 13 states) has also been raised to 400 Mbit/s down and 25 Mbit/s up by June 2016 for consumer plans and 200 Mbit/s down for business plans (which are also available to consumers). 2.8 million households are connected via the third cable provider, Tele Columbus. The cable providers Kabel BW and primacom were bought up by Unitymedia and Tele Columbus respectively.

Italy[edit]

In Italy the main technology used for accessing Internet is ADSL/ADSL2+. The maximum speed of ADSL2+ is 20 Mbit/s in download, and 1 Mbit/s in upload.

The main ISP is TIM. From 2015 many operators started to deploy VDSL (100 Mbit/s down, 20 Mbit/s up) technology (copper on local loop). Using this technology, optic fiber arrives to the cabinet, and then connects customers using copper (FTTC).

In Italy optical fiber has been available since 2000. The main companies offering optical-fiber-based internet connections are TIM, Vodafone and Fastweb. Several companies offer LLU Adsl2, such as Infostrada, Tiscali, Fastweb, and TIM.

In Italy not all the plans are available anywhere: form small towns connected at 640k, to 1 Gbit/s available only in a few big cities. ISPs call this fenomena "digital divide". Telecom Italia's anti-digital divide project, since 2006, set as a goal to provide at least 640 kbit/s down / 256 kbit/s up to any people covered by ordinary phone network. MiniDSLAMs that provide this service are connected via copper network. TIM wants to provide to anyone "broadband" connection, in fact users report poor connection speeds and latency.

Service provider Basic Standard Faster Fastest Notes
TIM (formerly Telecom Italia) 7 Mbit/s down, 384kbit/s up (ADSL);

640kbit/s down, 256kbit/s up (ADSL on miniDSLAM) in "digital divided" areas (small towns, other ISPs not available)

Infostrada 7 Mbit/s down, 384kbit/s up (ADSL) (only hiring TIM network, under TIM ADSL coverage) 20 Mbit/s down, 1 Mbit/s up (ADSL2+) 100 Mbit/s Down, 10 Mbit/s up (only hiring TIM network, under TIM VDSL2 coverage) - Has no caps on transfer.
Fastweb 6 Mbit/s down, 1 Mbit/s up (ADSL) (only hiring TIM network, under TIM ADSL coverage) 20 Mbit/s down, 1 Mbit/s up (ADSL2+) 20 Mbit/s down, 10 Mbit/s up (VDSL) 100/200 Mbit/s Down, 25/35 Mbit/s up (Optic fiber) - Has no caps on transfer.
Vodafone 7 Mbit/s down, 384 kbit/s (ADSL) (only hiring TIM network, under TIM ADSL coverage) 20 Mbit/s down, 1 Mbit/s up (ADSL2+) 100 Mbit/s down, 20 Mbit/s up (VDSL2) 1 Gbit/s / 500 Mbit/s down (Optic fiber) and 300 Mbit/s down (Optic fiber), 200/100 Mbit/s up Has no caps on transfer. p2p filters on ADSL plans.
Tiscali 7 Mbit/s down, 384 kbit/s up (ADSL) (only hiring TIM network, under TIM ADSL coverage) 20 Mbit/s down, 1 Mbit/s up (ADSL2+) 100 Mbit/s down, 20 Mbit/s up (only hiring TIM network, under TIM VDSL2 coverage) - Has no caps on transfer.
