List of international cricket five-wicket hauls on West Indies cricket grounds

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The West Indies cricket team were awarded Test cricket status in 1926 when they became a Full Member of the Imperial Cricket Conference.[1][lower-alpha 1] The team played their first Test match in 1928, their first One Day International (ODI) in 1973 and their first Twenty20 International (T20I) match in 2006.[2] Cricket had been played in the West Indies since the early-19th century, with inter-colony matches first taking place in 1865.[3] The first West Indies representative sides played during the late-19th century[lower-alpha 2] and teams representing the West Indies toured England as early as 1900. The first Test matches to be played in West Indies took place in 1930 when England toured the region.

The West Indies women's cricket team played its first matches in 1976,[lower-alpha 3] making its Test match debut the same year. The team played its first ODI in 1979 and first T20I in 2008.[4]

In cricket, a five-wicket haul (also known as a "five-for" or "fifer") refers to a bowler taking five or more wickets in a single innings. This is regarded as a notable achievement.[5] This list details the five-wicket hauls taken on West Indian cricket grounds in international matches.[lower-alpha 4]

The first five-wicket hauls taken on a West Indies ground were achieved by Englishman Greville Stevens who took five wickets in each West Indies innings in the first Test match staged in the region in 1930.[6] The first West Indian to take a five-wicket haul in a Test match in the West Indies was Herman Griffith who did so in the second Test of the same tour.[7] The first woman to take a five-wicket haul in the West Indies was Jamaican Vivalyn Latty-Scott who did so against the touring Australian side in 1976.[8]
