22-24 January President Fernández chose Israel as his first international trip to attend the fifth World Holocaust Forum. The Forum was timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Red Army (January 27, 1945) and the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. There he met with President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.[1]

30 January-2 February President Fernández first met with David Beasley, Executive Director of the World Food Programme, and presented him his Argentina Against Hunger Plan. Then visited Pope Francis in his first visit to the Vatican as President. On January 31 Fernández met with Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte and President Sergio Mattarella. On February 1 Fernández visited the Food and Agriculture Organization headquarters.[2]
