List of largest ruling leaders by population
With the population boom, sovereign states have only become more and more populous with time, and consequently the heads of government have been made to look after increasing number of subjects. India's Prime Minister has been the largest democratic leader since the inception of the position. British Empire still remains the largest empire in human history whose land area peaked in 1913 and population in 1938. It is estimated that China and India will start having declining population before the second half of 21st century.
Each State has been mentioned only once to avoid the article from being abstruse.

India is said to overtake China in terms of population by 2027[5]and remain the most populous State for any foreseeable future. Its population is estimated to peak by tentatively 2048[6]making India's Prime Minister in 2048 the largest ruling leader in human history in terms of population.
