Oldest living presidents of Mexico[edit]
Not all presidents live to become the oldest of their time. Of the 52 deceased presidents, 19 eventually became the oldest of their time, while 33 did not (including both presidents who died in office and 31 others). Pedro Lascuráin became the oldest living president when Victoriano Huerta died in 1916 and remained so until his death in 1924, for a record 36 years and 190 days. Victoriano Huerta became the oldest living president after the death of Porfirio Díaz, but he survived Diaz by only 195 days.
On two occasions the oldest living president lost this distinction not by his death, but due to the inauguration of a president who was older. Guadalupe Victoria lost this distinction when Vicente Guerrero was inaugurated. Vicente Guerrero lost this distinction when Anastasio Bustamante was inaugurated. Emilio Portes Gil was the oldest to acquire this distinction at the age of 83 years, and 61 days. Miguel de la Madrid, who was 77 years, and 111 days old when he died on April 1, 2012 is the oldest and most recent president to die without ever acquiring this distinction.
