This is a list of prime ministers of Belgium by age. Where the Prime Minister in question is still living, the longevity is calculated up to November 4, 2024.
Two measures of the longevity are given; this is to allow for the differing number of leap days occurring within the life of each Prime Minister. The first column is the number of days between date of birth and date of death, allowing for leap days; the second column breaks this number down into years and days, with the years being the number of whole years the Prime Minister lived, and the days being the remaining number of days after his/her last birthday.

Statistics[edit]
- There have been two men who have been the only living prime minister: Étienne Constantin de Gerlache (as the first, from 27 February 1831 to 10 March 1831), and Charles de Broqueville (from Schollaert's death on 29 June 1917 to 1 June 1918).
- During one period in the History of Belgium, has there been 12 persons alive to have been prime minister. This period was from 25 April 1961 to 22 October 1961 (when Georges Theunis, Aloys Van de Vyvere, Paul van Zeeland, Paul-Henri Spaak, Hubert Pierlot, Achille Van Acker, Camille Huysmans, Gaston Eyskens, Jean Duvieusart, Joseph Pholien, Jean Van Houtte, and Théo Lefèvre were alive.
- Étienne Constantin de Gerlache was the only person to be both an only living prime minister (from 27 February 1831 to 10 March 1831) and one of nine or more living prime ministers (from 31 October 1852 to 19 March 1865 and again from 3 January 1868 to 10 February 1871).
- There have been 26 administrations during which a prime minister has not died, the most recent being the administration of Sophie Wilmès. This does not include the administration of
Jules de Trooz (who was himself the only prime minister to die during his administration), nor the administration of incumbent Alexander De Croo (as no prime minister has died since Leo Tindemans who died during the administration of Charles Michel.
- Conversely, only during the administrations of Auguste Beernaert and Charles de Broqueville has there been as many as five deaths during an administration. On six occasions (during the administrations of Charles Rogier, Barthélémy de Theux de Meylandt, Hubert Pierlot, Leo Tindemans, Théo Lefèvre, and Paul Vanden Boeynants) has there been as many as two deaths during an administration (de Meylandt in addition died in office in 1874).
- Achille Van Acker holds the distinction of serving for the longest period without the death of a prime minister during his term (5 years and 218 days).
- The longest period between deaths of prime ministers was the 10 years and 305 days between the deaths of Jules de Burlet on 1 March 1897 and Jules de Trooz on 31 December 1907. The shortest was the 4 days between the deaths of Théo Lefèvre on 18 September 1973 and Paul van Zeeland on 22 September 1973.
- If the longest period between deaths is to be exceeded, no prime minister must die before 27 October 2025 (the current oldest and second oldest surviving prime ministers, Mark Eyskens and Herman Van Rompuy, would then be 92 and 78 years old respectively).
- The second longest period is the 10 years and 69 days between the deaths of Henry Carton de Wiart on 6 May 1951 and Aloys Van de Vyvere on 22 October 1961.
- Only six times (in 1874, 1891, 1917, 1968, 1973, and 2014) have two prime ministers died in the same year.
- Following his administration's end in 1925, Aloys Van de Vyvere lived to see a record 21 administrations prior to his death in October 1961. Henry Carton de Wiart and Paul van Zeeland follow with 19 administrations after their own administrations ended in 1921 and 1937 respectively, prior to their deaths in May 1951 and September 1973 respectively. In modern times, the prime minister to have lived to see the most administrations following their own was Pierre Harmel, with 13 following the end of his administration in 1966.
- If one includes future as well as past and current prime ministers, the record sits at 27:
- Between Paul-Émile Janson's birth on 30 May 1872 and Albert Joseph Goblet d'Alviella's death on 5 May 1873, the following prime ministers were alive: Albert Joseph Goblet d'Alviella, Barthélémy de Theux de Meylandt, Jean-Baptiste Nothomb, Sylvain Van de Weyer, Charles Rogier, Henri de Brouckère, Pierre de Decker, Walthère Frère-Orban, Jules d'Anethan, Jules Malou, Auguste Beernaert, Jules de Burlet, Paul de Smet de Naeyer, Jules Vandenpeereboom, Jules de Trooz, Frans Schollaert, Charles de Broqueville, Gérard Cooreman, Léon Delacroix, Henry Carton de Wiart, Georges Theunis, Aloys Van de Vyvere, Prosper Poullet, Henri Jaspar, Jules Renkin, Paul-Émile Janson and Camille Huysmans.
- Since the appointment of Aloys Van de Vyvere on 13 May 1925 (a period of 99 years, 175 days), there have been at least 6 prime ministers living.
Oldest living prime ministers of Belgium[edit]
Not all prime ministers live to become the oldest of their time. Of the 45 deceased prime ministers, 21 eventually became the oldest of their time while 24 did not. Étienne Constantin de Gerlache became the oldest living prime minister when he was appointed in 1831 and remained so until his death in 1871, for a record of almost 40 years. Frans Schollaert became the oldest living prime minister after the death of Jules Vandenpeereboom, but he survived Vandenpeereboom by only 115 days.
On one occasion the oldest living prime minister lost this distinction not by his death, but due to the appointment of a prime minister who was older. Charles de Broqueville, who became the oldest living during a vacancy in the office of Prime Minister following the death of Frans Schollaert, lost this distinction when he was succeeded as Prime Minister by Gérard Cooreman, who was eight years older. However, when Cooreman died in 1926, de Broqueville regained it again until his own death in 1940 for a total period of 14 years and 250 days. Leo Tindemans was the oldest to acquire this distinction at the age of 87 years and 213 days. Georges Theunis, who was 92 years and 310 days old when he died on 4 January 1966 was the oldest prime minister to die without ever acquiring this distinction. Jean-Luc Dehaene, who died on 15 May 2014 at 73 years and 281 days old was the most recent prime minister to die without ever acquiring this distinction.
