This is a list of unmade and unreleased projects by Archie Comics. Some of these productions were, or still are, in development hell. Projects that have not provided significant production announcements within at least a year, would be considered in development limbo until further announcements are released. The following include films, television shows and stage productions.

Films[edit]

Sabrina, the Teenage Witch film[edit]

In September 2004, Paramount Pictures was developing a Sabrina, the Teenage Witch movie.[1] After the film rights lasped, Columbia Pictures acquired the film with Mark Waters set to direct, Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari writing the script, and Don Murphy, Susan Montford, Jon Goldwater, and Jeff Stockwell are producing.[2] There have been no further announcements since.

Archie film[edit]

On June 6, 2013, Warner Bros announced that Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jon Goldwater, and Krishnan Menon will produce a modern day Archie film is in development with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa writing and Jason Moore directing.[3] There have no developments since.

Betty & Veronica film[edit]

On July 22, 2003, Miramax announced a Betty and Veronica film was in development.[4] There have no developments since.

Television[edit]

It's Archie animated series[edit]

In 2013, MoonScoop announced that it will also produce a new Archie animated series titled It's Archie.[5] The first season was set to feature 52 11-minute episodes.[6] There have no developments since.

Broadway[edit]

Untitled Archie musical[edit]

In 2015, Archie Comics announced that they would be bringing Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and the rest of the Riverdale gang to Broadway with an all-new musical. Adam McKay is set to write the book for the show while Funny Or Die will serve as a presenting partner. CEO Jon Goldwater and CCO Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will oversee production. Triptyk Studios packaged the partnership and Tara Smith, B. Swibel and Adam Westbrook will oversee development of the musical for the company. At this time no creative team for the musical has been announced.[7]
