Liton Kamal Sheikh (born 19 December 1970), professionally known as Liton Sheikh, is a Bangladesh-born Australian actor and music artist. He has contributed to both English and Bangla films and music videos. With a career spanning over a decade, he has gained recognition in both Australia and Bangladesh for his self-produced music videos and his acclaimed film Love & Guns – Mafia Tales.
Early life
Liton Sheikh was born on December 19, 1970, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. From a young age, Liton had a great interest in Bangladeshi culture and tradition, which greatly influenced his later work. As he ventured into the music industry, he seamlessly incorporated his unique style into his music. Following the success of several albums, Liton eventually transitioned into the film industry, bringing with him the same passion and creativity.
Career
Music career
While staying abroad, he felt a deep attraction towards his homeland and its rich culture. So, he decided to express his love for his homeland and culture through folk music and mixed music. Thus, he began his study at NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art) in Sydney, which is one of the most reputed institutes in the world. This is also the institute where renowned actors like Mel Gibson, Cate Blanchett, Judi Davis, Sara Snook graduated from. After completing his graduation at NIDA, he released his first self-produced song, Koeli, in 2012, marking the beginning of his music career.
Following this, he produced many more songs, Gypsy Heart, Karigor, Adam & Eve, Divinity, Father in Heaven, Walking on the Moon, Gypsy Heart (Reprise), and Laily. These songs collectively formed his debut album, Gypsy Heart.
In subsequent years, Liton released another album titled Me, Love and God, which featured tracks such as Hey Baby, There is No Light, and Funky Goes to Bollywood.
In 2020, he remastered and produced a music video for Hey Baby from his Me, Love and God album on YouTube. In the following year, he published more music videos. Some of them were remastered versions of songs from his albums Gypsy Heart and Me, Love and God, such as Father in Heaven, Karigor, and Gypsy Heart. And other releases were his new works, like Heart on Fire and Rom Pom.
Acting career
In 2023, Liton Sheikh began his acting career by appearing in an Australian television commercial for Better Beer.
In the following year, he auditioned for and secured a role in the Australian film Love & Guns-Mafia Tales, where he portrayed Shady. The film received several accolades, including Best International Short Narrative Film at the Marina del Rey Film Festival 2024, Culver City Film Festival and L.A. Neo Noir Film Festival, and it was nominated for the Montreal Independent Film Festival 2024. The film was produced by Creative Film Enterprises Pty Ltd.[2]
After this success, in the same year Liton starred in a skit titled Sherlock Holmes portraying Sherlock Holmes.

Liton Sheikh has garnered significant attention in both Australia and Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, he has been interviewed by news outlets, including Independent Television and DBC News. His music and contributions have been featured in newspapers such as Alokito Habiganj and Daily Bijoyer Protiddhoni.[3][4][5]

On November 8, 2011, Liton Sheikh created his primary YouTube channel Liton Sheikh, where he posts major updates about his work and projects. On June 9, 2012, he created a second channel, named litonsheikh2977, that is dedicated primarily to sharing his music.
