Livaï Ackerman (Japanese: リヴァイ・アッカーマン, Hepburn: Rivai Akkaman), also well-known as Captain Livaï (リヴァイ兵長, Rivai Heicho) is a fictional character in the anime and manga “ Attack on Titan “ created by Hajime Isayama. Livaï is the captain of the special operation squad within the Survey Corps and he is also known as the humanity’s stronger soldier. Livaï first appears in a special chapter of the Attack on Titan manga called “ Captain Levi “ (リヴァイ兵士長 Rivai Heishi-cho) published on December 9, 2010.
Appearance[edit]
Livaï’s hairstyle is a short, straight black hair styled in an undercut and the character has intimidating grey eyes. Despite his short size, Livaï has a well-developed physique due to the vertical maneuvering equipment usage. Livaï is extremely calm and with his neutral Face-expression, that makes some difficulties for the others to guess what he is thinking. Usually, Livaï wears his Survey Corps Uniform with a gray button-up shirt underneath along his trademark white ascot. He can also be seen with the Survey Corps’ green hooded black cloak when the Survey Corps are doing an expedition out from the Walls. Once, because of his injury, this character was seen with a black suit whit a white shirt and dress shoes. Most of the time, after the coup d’état, he simply wore his vertical maneuvering equipment harness over casual clothes.

Vertical Maneuvering Equipment[edit]
Livaï Ackerman is excellent when it’s about using the vertical Maneuvering equipment, at a point that everyone says he is definitely the best at it. Even before joining the Survey Corps, he was considered extremely strong. Some people within the history said he is as valuable as an entire brigade. He has shown many times his capacity to perfectly control this equipment. He defeated the Female Titans by moving too fast for her to defend and this is something which the whole squad and even Eren in his titan form could not do. He even defeated Zeke Yeager in his beast titan form, well-known for being Marley’s army strongest Warriors and a skillful titan.
Strength[edit]
This character has an impressive physical strength, which is obvious by his using of the vertical maneuvering equipment. His small stature doesn’t make him weak with his well-built body and heavy muscle, making him very strong and easily able to defeat his opponent. Once, he even blocked one of the Female titans’ attacks, with her hand to launch himself towards her mouth before she could hit Mikasa.
Intelligence[edit]
Livaï Ackerman has the ability to analyze the situation very quickly and take calculated decisions in the heat of the battle. This ability gives to him the possibility, at many times, to save himself and his comrades on many crucial occasions. However, Livaï assumes that he does not believe a person can be right all the time.
Hidden Power[edit]
Livaï Ackerman is a member of the Ackerman’s Legacy, and this fact is really important because all the Ackerman member has a “ hidden power “ inside them and Levi has “ awakened “ a dormant power within himself earlier in his life that he describes as “ Knowing exactly what needs to be done “.
Personal Story[edit]
Livaï Ackerman is the son of Kuchel Ackerman, a prostitute who worked in the Underground, a hidden city under the Earth, and was made pregnant by one of her clients. Kenny Ackerman, who is the older brother of Kuchel, came to this city only to figured it out she was dead. In the house, he found a young Levi sitting next to his mother’s bed. Kenny decided to take care of him. He educated Levi as far as he can: Teaching him knife skills, hot to get along with people, and violent behavior. Levi also managed to use his own hidden power he possesses as a member of the Ackerman legacy. After a long time, Following Kenny’s thoughts, he taught everything he knew to Levi. However, Kenny didn’t consider himself as a good father figure. One day, in the Underground city, Levi started a fight which he won easily and realize that Kenny decided to leave him behind. Kenny thought Livaï knew the skills he needed to survive. Later, Livaï became a thug in the underground but eventually left the place to join the Survey Corps. Although he was at odds with Erwin, he managed becoming one of his most trusted men.
