Liz Gereghty is an American businesswoman and politician. She is currently running in the 2024 United States House of Representatives elections as a Democratic Party candidate for New York's 17th congressional district.[1][2] She is one of the two Democrats challenging Mike Lawler in one of the most competitive 2024 Congressional races. Career[edit]
Prior to running for Congress, Gereghty was a member of the Kanotah–Lewisboro School Board.[5] Gereghty was elected to the School Board in May, 2019, and was re-elected in 2022. On the School Board, Gereghty served as the Facilities Committee Chair from 2021 to 2023, and Finance Committee Chair from 2022 to 2023, overseeing a successful $49.5 million bond proposal approved by voters, the removal of school athletes' Native American mascot, and curriculum changes for special-needs students. Gereghty is the owner of Pop Kanotah, a retail catering business. Prior to founding Pop Kanotah, Gereghty was a media consultant and worked with non-profits.[7]
From 2000 to 2003 Gereghty was a director at Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. During this period she helped to redesign the company's website and develop new media strategies for radio, websites, and emails.[8]

Gereghty is the sister of Gretchen Whitmer, the current Democratic Governor of Michigan.[9]
