Lolev Beer is an American craft brewery based in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in December 2022 by brothers Ted and Scott Slesinski and Jeff and Derek Gonano, the brewery is known for modern interpretations of classic beer styles, including IPAs, lagers, and barrel‑aged releases.[1]
History
The Slesinski brothers began home‑brewing in the lower level of one of their homes. An inspiration reflected in the name "Lolev" ("lower level").[2] After several years of refining recipes, they opened a 20‑barrel brewhouse and taproom at 5247 Butler Street in Lawrenceville in December 2022.[3]
Lolev celebrated its first anniversary in January 2024 with a series of special releases and events.[4]
Facilities
In April 2025 the company opened a second 2,800‑square‑foot taproom at 111 South Main Street in Zelienople, Butler County, featuring a U‑shaped bar, outdoor seating, and games. Both locations pour a rotating list of twelve house beers and host live music, art shows, and community events.[2]
Beer and brewing
Lolev’s core lineup includes modern hazy IPAs, traditional lagers, and barrel aged ales. The brewery is also noted for its barrel‑aged barleywine series Demeter, released annually in variant treatments, such as rum‑barrel and maple-bourbon cask editions.
During Oktoberfest season, the brewery produces Sonnen, a Märzen‑style lager that local press has cited among the region’s notable festbiers.[5]
Reception
Regional media have highlighted Lolev for its “bold beers and bright vibes”[6], quality of beer[7] while Pittsburgh Magazine praised the Zelienople taproom’s community‑oriented atmosphere.[2]
