Lamech Destiny Egileoniso (born 5 May 2001), known professionally as Lord Dami, and affectionately called Mellifluous Papi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and poet.[1] Known for his lyricism with deep, introspective and dark qualities on Afrobeats. Lord Dami released his debut single 'Hero' in 2022, which has since been followed up with several popular songs. In 2024 he released his debut extended play (EP) The Onset.
Early life
Lamech Destiny Egileoniso was born in Port Harcourt, on May 5, 2001. He is the son of Susan Maclean A. and Lamech Egileoniso Ugese. Lord Dami grew up in Southern Nigeria and began writing music at a very young age, which was mostly gospel music at the time. He is from a Christian home, and would perform solely for his mother. While he has achieved reasonable success in the music industry, particularly in Southern Nigeria, he currently resides in Lagos, Nigeria.[1]
Career
Career beginnings
Lord Dami began his writing and compositions at an early age. He was a member of the Anglican Church Choir. He started writing professionally in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, and later released his debut single 'Hero' in 2022, under Dvpper Music.[2] This has since been followed up with several popular songs including 'Emotions', 'Time / Pain', 'Turnt Stories'[3] and more.
In 2023 he performed at the Budweiser Bud X Uncovered concert, along with Teni and other artists.[4][5]
