Lorelei McBroom is an American singer who has performed backing vocals for Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Lou Reed (during the 30th Annual Grammy Awards), and Nile Rodgers. She works as a singer and filmmaker in the United States and globally.
Career[edit]
Coming out of UCLA's Professional Designations Course in the music business, McBroom pursued a solo career. She signed a record deal with Capitol Records in 1987..[1][2] and co-produced an album with Nile Rodgers. Video productions led to an opportunity to work with Pink Floyd as a backing vocalist later in the same year. With a major shift in management at Capitol by 1989 McBroom was dropped by the label, McBroom was then a background vocalist for Johnny Kemp[3] when that tour ended she was asked to return to working with Pink Floyd on separate tour. She went on to perform as a backing vocalist for the Rolling Stones in 1990 on the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour[4][5] before taking time off to focus on family[6]. She would return to public performance with Rod Stewart by 2010[7][8] and then work with The Australian Pink Floyd Show by 2011 which she continues to do to the present day[9]

Lorelei’s film credits include: The Rolling Stones in Stones at the Max, Live in Barcelona, Spike Lee in Summer of Sam, Malcolm D. Lee in The Best Man, Pink Floyd in Live in Venice[10], On the Turning Away, Dogs of War Music Videos, and Mark Collie in On The Road. She also possesses numerous music videos, additional live concert tours, and album credits with the aforementioned and additional acts including: Billy Idol, Yarbrough and Peoples, Chris Isaak, Teddy Pendergrass (via Nile Rodgers), Eddie Murphy(via Producer Daryl Ross), Sister Sledge, Phillip Bailey, The Time, Eurythmics, David Lee Roth, Morris Day, and We Are Family Foundation in 2002[11][12]
She also ventured into the world of music production; co-producing music featured in video game Outlaw Volleyball for the Xbox, as well as video production for commercials featured at AMC Theaters in Brooklyn, and local concert promotion in the New York metropolitan area.
During a brief return to Los Angeles in 2008, Lorelei appeared on Southern California’s premier Morning Drive radio show, K Earth 101 FM with DJ Gary Bryan. He interviewed her, a record seven times for the station in 2010. Additionally, she provided 3 guest spots singing live for the stations call in winners. They created a series called On The Road With Rod Stewart during his Soul Book Tour; with Lorelei reporting to fans from across Europe and the Middle East including (but not limited to): United Kingdom, Dubai, UAE, Tel Aviv, Israel, and Moscow, Russia[13]
She and her sister Durga McBroom are featured on Steve Hackett's album At the Edge of Light[14]. Appearing on the chart-topping single Underground Railroad[15], as well as on the single Wingbeats from his subsequent album Surrender Of Silence.[16] After appearing on several albums by Progressive rock artist Dave Kerzner, Lorelei and Durga recorded Black Floyd, as The McBroom Sisters duo. Co-produced by David Domminney Fowler, Dave Kerzner and the McBroom Sisters; Black Floyd was released in July 2020. The album includes some Pink Floyd songs as well as original material[17][18][19]. Additionally she and her sister contributed to the creation of the Virtual Studio Technology plug-in Hollywood Backup Singers by EastWest Studios.[20]
In 2021, Lorelei and her production partners songwriter David Bryant, co-producer Gary Mace (Associate Director ABC, CBS) and the late Veteran Entertainment Attorney Kendall Minter, launched Season One of the web documentary series Who Influenced You?[21] on YouTube. The series focuses on the influences of the featured guest, someone influenced by them (or their genre/expertise) and young people who are also influenced by the same genre/expertise; creating a genealogy of influence in 3 parts per episode. Featured guests have included: Steve Hackett, André Cymone, Ray Parker Jr., Paul Peterson, and Marla Gibbs. Lorelei continues to split her focus between backing and lead singing for multiple projects, creating custom jewelry, and work as a filmmaker and host in the interest of the WIY? project.
Personal life[edit]
McBroom's mother was the Cardiologist Pearl McBroom, M.D. and her father was Psychologist Dr. Marcus McBroom. Her sister is Durga McBroom whom she has worked with professionally in the past. They grew up in various parts of Hollywood and Baldwin Hills until her parents divorced in the mid '60s.
