Louise Hulland (born 6 September 1979 in Burnley, Lancashire) is an English presenter and journalist currently working for ITV London, ITV News, BBC Watchdog and BBC London 94.9. She was educated at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and St. Chad's College, University of Durham.
Career[edit]
As a student, Hulland secured work placements at the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times, the Burnley Express, the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Sky News and ITN. She also worked for the Newcastle Evening Chronicle whilst at university, where she reported on many court cases and was once invited into HM Durham Prison. After a stint in BBC Local Radio, she moved to London to work for BBC Radio 1 where she reported for Newsbeat.
Hulland then left the BBC to work as an entertainment correspondent for the UK commercial radio network and UBC Media.
Currently, Hulland reports for London Tonight on ITV, with several of her reports appearing on the national ITV News, as well as providing live continuity links for BBC One & BBC Two
Radio[edit]
After leaving university, Hulland began work at BBC Radio Lancashire, as a production assistant for the breakfast presenter Jim Bowen. She then co-presented the weekend breakfast show, and filled in as an afternoon presenter on the station as well. In 2002, Hulland moved to BBC Radio 1 where she worked as a researcher for Chris Moyles, Jo Whiley, Sara Cox and Jamie Theakston. She also moonlighted as traffic and travel reporter for BBC Local Radio before moving over to work on The Sunday Surgery.
Hulland has worked at BBC Radio 2, where she was a guest booker for Steve Wright. She produced Sir Terry Wogan's Children in Need Money Can't Buy auctions. She also appeared on air with Claudia Winkleman on her Arts Show.
As a news presenter, Hulland has worked for BBC Radio 6 Music, reading the news for Steve Lamacq and Jon Holmes, among others.
As a host she has presented for BBC London 94.9, BBC Radio Bristol, and BBC Radio Devon, and appears as a guest on LBC 97.3.
As well as reporting for ITV London, Hulland has also reported for BBC One on an Inside Out programme she devised and presented about female bouncers.
Hulland hosts FYI on ITV2, and works on TV pilot shows.
Documentaries[edit]
Hulland won the 2005 Gold Sony Radio Academy Award for her documentary "Missing the Message," which described the rise of HIV in UK youngsters.[1]
