In October 2014, Deadline reported that Sam Raimi is in talks to direct the adaptation of Matthew Quick’s book Love May Fail for Columbia Pictures from a Mike White script.[1] In November 2015, TriStar Pictures took over the project, Raimi dropped out of directing duties, Emma Stone is set to play Portia Crane, and Hannah Minghella, Matt Tolmach and Elizabeth Cantillon producing the film,[2] until Minghella left TriStar for Bad Robot.[3]
