Luca Azzolini (born 21 May 1983 in Ostiglia, Mantova) is an Italian writer of historical and fantasy novels.[1]

Biography[edit]

He wrote his first novel in 2009, an urban fantasy called The Fire of the Phoenix. He later undertook the writing of numerous series of children's books: the Aurion Saga in ten volumes, the Volley Star cycle dedicated to volleyball (translated into Turkish and Hungarian), the Mark Mission series. He has numerous novels based on true stories, such as The Most Dangerous Road in the World (2017), Dragon Game (2020) and Wild boys (2021).

He later made his debut in the adult historical novel in 2020.[2][3] On 29 October 2020, for HarperCollins Italia, he publishes the first volume of a historical trilogy freely inspired by the TV series Romulus produced by Matteo Rovere (showrunner, producer and director of the original series broadcast on Sky Italia), created by Groenlandia with Cattleya and ITV.[4] The trilogy follows the mythical foundation of the city of Rome and rewrites the ancient myth of Romolo e Remo. The volumes are titled Romulus: Book I - The blood of the wolf (29 October 2020), Romulus: Book II - The queen of battles (November 2020) and Romulus: Book III - The city of wolves (January 2021). The TV series has been sold in forty countries.[4]

On 11 May 2021 the young adult novel Wild boys is released in bookstores, based on a true story, which tackles the issue of bullying in the 90s and is a candidate for the Fiesole Under 40 Award and the 65th Bancarellino Award.[5]
