Luciano Simoni
Luciano Simoni (born 1932 - died 2010) was an Italian composer.
Life[edit]
Luciano Simoni was a composer, but also an engineer, a scientist, and a full professor at the University of Bologna. As a composer Luciano Simoni was instructed by Lino Liviabella. Simoni studied harmony, instrumentation and counterpoint with Liviabella. At the same time, he attended courses at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Bologna, and he graduated with honors in July 1959. After graduating from university, he continued his intensive compositional activity: In 1960–61 he composed his 1st symphony op.11 for large orchestra, with which he applied for a symphonic selection in 1975 organized by the Cassa Nazionale Musicisti. The commission awarded the completely unknown composer the prestigious individual prize, which changed the life of Luciano Simoni, who from now on devoted himself to musical composition with renewed vigor. From 1983 to 1988 and from 1993 to 1997, Simoni was the musician's representative on the board of directors of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. This enabled him to come into contact with the official music world. Luciano Simoni died in 2010.[1]
