) is a song by Flamingosi featuring Louis from the Flamingosi album Gordost i predrasude, which was came second in Template:Lang-sr-latn, Serbia and Montenegro's national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006.[1][2]
Evropesma 2006[edit]
The song was announced as competing in Beovizija 2006, Serbia's semi-final of their national final Evropesma 2006, on 13 February 2006. The song won Beovizija, and therefore was one of the 12 songs qualified for the national final. In the final, the song finished in second place, behind "Moja ljubavi" performed by No Name.[3][4]
Controversy[edit]
"Ludi letnji ples" not winning the national final sparked controversy in Serbia, due to Montenegrin jurors awarding the song no points.[5] In the televoting, the audience gave 12,000 votes to "Ludi letnji ples" and 3,500 to "Moja ljubavi".[6] The disgruntled audience in the hall demanded that Flamingosi and Louis sing the winning encore at the end of the program, not the official winners, which is what happened.[7][8]
Aftermath[edit]
Radio Television of Serbia did not want to accept victory and planned to organize a new national final whose outcome would be entirely determined by a televoting. Radio and Television of Montenegro refused, claiming the result to have been legitimate. Unable to reach an agreement, Serbia and Montenegro withdrew from Eurovision 2006.[9][10]
The State Union of Serbia and Montenegro dissolved following a referendum on 21 May 2006, one day after the Eurovision final. Since the 2007 competition, Serbia and Montenegro have competed individually.[11][12][13]
Reception[edit]
The public reception was positive, it became a hit in the Balkan region, and some even called the song "the Serbian Macarena".[14] There are several versions of this song. The first one is original version for the Evropesma competition, the post-competition version with mention of the defeat and the cities of Serbia and Montenegro, not European capital cities, and the semi-instrumental version with only the female vocals and the chorus.[15]
In the 2020s, the song became popular again on TikTok.
